The Transformation: The Ink Well Prompt #73 Impression

in The Ink Well2 years ago
In ancient times, there was a big kingdom headed by king Sheenoy. The king was a gracious person who was always willing to help others. He loved his subjects very much. He used to help everyone. No one was dissatisfied in his kingdom, and no one lacked anything. There was a lot of money in his kingdom, and the fields were full of various products. People in his kingdom were living happily.

Any person who requested or asked for any help was never sent back without fulfilling their demand. One of his courtiers, Kramer, thought, "Our king is very kind, so why not take advantage of him?" He worked hard to become a close, trusted, and unique courtier of that kingdom. He wanted to win the trust of the king so he could become a minister of the treasury. He had his eyes on the money in the treasury.

So, Kramer chalked out a plan. He tried his best to stay around the king and did whatever the king asked him to do. He was always with the king and went everywhere with him. The king once asked him to keep the money in the basement of the treasury house that came as a tax from merchants and farmers, and he did it honestly. He knew the king was taking his test.

The king thought, "Kramer helps me everywhere, and, whatever work I ask him to do, he does it totally honestly." The king was absolutely impressed with Kramer's work. Kramer knew he was succeeding in his plan by impressing the king with his honesty and hard work.

A total transformation indeed and all for the very best too seeing as his intentions weren't all that good at first.

This story leaves not only an impression on Kramer but also on me. The King did a brave thing by trusting him with his treasury again.

What a story. Kramer ended up leaving two impressions the later being dishonesty. Thank you for sharing this.

Greetings, @samdove.

Perhaps the protagonist was very confused at the beginning of the story and was able to hatch a plan to harm the good king who gave him his trust.
When he thought of the innocent people he would harm with his plan, he came to his senses and acted honestly. It is hard to think that humans have such abrupt changes, also that the king would place his trust in him again.
