A Christmas Eve to remember

It's like a tradition in my family that every member of the family must be available in our family house for Christmas.

Well my name is Emily and I'm the second child of my family we're my mum give birth to three children. My grandfather got married to two wives and my dad is the first son of the first wife, so I have a lot of cousins but there's this particular one we always compete for everything when we were little and till now nothing has changed,we drag for literally everything I mean who has the best clothes,car, jewelries and even who has more money. Her name is Monica, she is very saucy, annoying and a complete show off.

It was almost Christmas and I was preparing to go visit my family when I got the information that my cousin Monica just got engaged it was so unexpected and I knew she will "rub it on my face" when we see each other and I couldn't let that happen
The worst part was I didn't even have a boyfriend to start with because of how busy i was with work, I never really paid any attention to my love life, after being heart broken twice I decided to focus on work and I felt all men are the same.

I told Sonia about my cousin Monica....oh yes!! I forgot to mention her earlier Sonia is my very close friend, I told her my cousin will really make fun of me if I didn't bring a man home as my fiance, so Sonia brought up an idea of me hiring a man to act as my fiance and then paying him after the Christmas period so I agreed. Now the next thing was to look for a man who is interested in the job and also good looking, the trip was in three days and I haven't seen a man that is perfect for the job it's either he is too clumsy, disorganized or talks too much, it was getting really frustrating and I didn't know what to do anymore...

It's past 6 o'clock and I was getting late for work oh.....I was really in a hurry and just as I was about driving out of my apartment some one caught my attention...whoa...who the hell is that... I said to my self...I mean he is good looking, perfect body and he looks very simple. Despite the fact that I was late for work I needed to talk to him and ask if he was interested in the job. I drove to the place he was standing and I spoke with him, he didn't look like he was interested in the job (I mean it was weird telling someone to act as your fiance for few days, who wouldn't reject) and oh gosh...he was my last hope cause there was no time anymore but at least I gave him my card because I was running late for work. I finally got to the office and I couldn't stop thinking about the guy, i kept looking at my phone with the hope that he was going to call but he didn't.

It was the last day for me to stay at home I already got plane tickets ready and I was thinking of a way to face my cousin Monica, just when I was lost in thought I heard my phone ring and guess who...it was the guy I met the other day, the funny part is I didn't even get his name Lol... anyways...story continues he agreed to go on the trip with me...yes!!! I can't wait to get to my family house.

The day is finally came for us to travel to see my family and I couldn't wait to see the look on my cousin's face when she finds out that I'm also engaged, at least "that's what everyone will think". We just arrived at our family house and everyone is doing good but I couldn't t find Monica anywhere so I decided to ask my mum and I was told she is on her way. I was so excited to see Monica's reaction that I forgot to ask my fake fiance things about him so my family will buy the lie. While waiting for my cousin's arrival my parents were asking series of questions about how we met and stuff like that, it was so embarrassing because I told my parents I met him at the shopping mall but he told them we met at the movies it's was so confusing but at least they were convinced, I just couldn't wait for them to finish talking for me to go to my room. Just as they were talking my cousin Monica arrived..".it's the reaction on her face for me" she didn't say anything because she just arrived but by the look on her face she was shocked....Monica how have you been and how was your trip(with a fake smile on my face), she said I see you brought a man home who is he?? and I replied he's my fiance, she was really looking for ways to attack me with her words but I didn't let her....

Well it's a day to Christmas Eve and I was looking for ways to show my cousin that the guy I brought home is really my fiance because she said she was going to proof to the whole family that our relationship is a fake and that I am not capable of keeping a man so because of that there was a lot of "public display of attention" by me and my so called fiance, I didn't even really know the guy, I thought he is one of these low income earners who is willing to do anything to make extra cash. So our relationship was only about business, just staying with him for few days I realized he was really nice and soft hearted but I didn't care I felt he was just there for the money .

Finally, the day came everyone was preparing for the usual family dinner the house was very busy but then I overheard someone shouting, I decided to go check it out and I saw Monica and her fiance arguing seriously, she then removed her engagement ring and said she was no longer interested in getting married to him, when I saw that I decided to come clean by telling everyone that the guy am with is not really my man but just a guy I hired, well before that I already had an heated argument with my so called fiance so he left my family house before me and I guess he was angry because I said alot of hurtful things to him, my family was so disappointed ... Hmmm it was really a Christmas Eve to remember...

Just when I thought the whole drama was over,I travelled back to my current house to continue work and I was surprised when I got to the office, I over heard my colleagues at the office saying we have a new general manager I was so less concern about it but when I saw the face of the general manager I was shocked and embarrassed at the same time, it was the same guy I hired to be my fiance for a moment I thought I was going to loss my job cause I said a lot of things I was not suppose to say to him when we had an argument. A general meeting was called for proper introduction of the new general manager I was so scared and I couldn't look at him In the face after the meeting I tried to leave the hall together with everyone but I heard my name so i stopped walking and just stood still like I was frozen, I didn't know how to start and what to say, I just said hi with a smile on my face as I was just about to apologize she shut me up with a kiss on my lips and I couldn't say a word the next thing I heard was will u go on a proper date with me ....😱😱😱that was the expression on my face, I couldn't help but yes....
