I think you ought to just lead by example and do challenges for publishing novels on Kindle, and get your money and audience members from actual book sales through kindle.
But, in order to do that, you'd need to actually convince inkwell users to self-publish, and you'd also need to have those self-published works, act as onboarding vectors for audience development.
It's a plan that I have laid out for you all months ago.

Always seems nicer to get money from grants, I suppose, rather than just building businesses and giving audience members a reason to follow authors on HIVE, and giving HIVE authors a reason to stake earnings to increase the amount of reward pool they can divert to engaging their audience members -- due to now relying on KDP royalties for income, rather than HIVE upvotes.
I read your post at the time, @rootdraws, and I thought there were some interesting ideas.
We have been working with a writer on some of the copyright issues involved and we have looked at a plan where the two channels - Hive and Amazon KDP - can complement and enhance each other. That writer is preparing their launch and it will be great to have a model for other writers. I really like the model the Wachowskis used with The Matrix where many different media were used for interwoven back stories and side stories to the films. That's more where we're heading in The Ink Well.
There's also the question about the nature of reading and how that is changing with the Internet and leading to changing forms of creativity and consumption. We have some talented younger people coming through with some great ideas who are not constrained by conventional forms like novels. I'm interested to see where they will go if we are able to provide the environment where they will flourish.
