My sister Mariela, worked as a geographer in the land registry area of a public office. She had many years of experience and had trained almost all the personnel that came to work in that office that served the public who required a document of their home.

Every time a person entered to work in that area, the head of the department would take her to my sister's desk and tell her.

"Ms. Mariela is going to teach you what you need. You are going to sit next to her, and you are going to pay close attention to what she teaches you".

And so, year after year, during all the time she worked in that office, she patiently trained the staff. And despite her experience and preparation, she was not chosen to be the head of the office.

"I don't care about that," she replied when I told her that I thought it was unfair that with her experience she was not appointed head of the office and that other people who were not as competent for the position were. "I prefer to do what I like and especially the field work when I go to the field and verify and complete the information that appears on the maps".

In order to assign the corresponding codes to the properties, physical maps were used to locate the place. According to this information, the cadastral certificate of the house or land was elaborated.

My sister liked to use these maps in her work and continued to do so even though they had a computer program that facilitated the work, especially for those workers who did not have a good grasp of the basic information and could get the job done more quickly.

When my sister used the old maps, some of the workers made fun of her.

"Ms. Mariela, you and your maps, how long are you going to use them? Look how old they are, you should throw them away".

"I participated in the elaboration of this information, and this is the basis of the program. It is important that these maps are preserved".

"You have to update and use the program on the computer," said another of the employees.

"While you are doing one cadastral map, I have already done 10 in the same time, so don't come to tell me how to do my job".

"I think you make up the codes, and that's why you finish faster". The same employee replied.

A very serious comment, to which my sister did not respond. She was a correct and very honest person in her work and what that person had said, although it had bothered her a lot, she decided that she did not have to defend herself.

But this did not stay that way, because what happened reached the ears of the head of the department, who took action.

She called the employee and in front of all the other workers she told her.

"Ms. Mariela is the person who has helped all of you, including you, and she pointed to the employee. What you said is disrespectful. You will no longer work here, you will be transferred to another department".

The use of technology was a great support to streamline the work of the department, but on one occasion a turn of the tables occurred, with which employees learned the value of manual information and not to depend on technology because it may become unavailable.

In the cadastre department, a large amount of work had accumulated due to electrical problems in the city: constant blackouts and voltage drops. The computers could not be used; and despite this limitation, my sister continued to elaborate the cadastral documents, using the information from the maps.

"Ms. Mariela, please lend us the maps to do the work"

My sister looked at them through her glasses with a half-smile and said.

"Ah!, I am surprised that you want to use these maps that¡, according to you, were obsolete"

And she felt a great satisfaction in telling them. "Well, you'll have to wait until I finish my work to use them"

Thank you @theinkwell.
I am very pleased
Greetings 😘

😂 so they all came back to her at the end. Somethings are very important and need to be preserved as you can't rely on technology all the time.

That's right! 🤭
Thank you for your comment
Greetings @zain-ab001 🌻

Nowadays we have been taken a lot to depend on technology. Although we have an advantage using computers, they are exposed to many limitations such as power outages, internet, and equipment failures. I really liked the part where the employees had to resort to the help of your sister after having spoken badly of her, that's called karmic justice.

Thanks for sharing your experience with us.

Excellent start weekend.

Hi @rinconpoetico7.
I liked the karmic justice thing, that's how it was. They had to ask for help from her.
As you rightly say internet technology can fail for various reasons.
Greetings friends 🌻

You see, if your sister had bend to their opinion about her manual way of performing her job, where would they have turned to during the black out?

Truth be told, technology has made the performance of tasks very easy but that should make us to jettison the old way of doing things because, one day there might be need for it.

That's right!. Many things are still useful in spite of technological advances. And as you say they can't be discarded because technology can fail.
I really appreciate your comment @medemausi

Have a happy day🌻

You are welcome @popurri
You too.

😂😂😂😂 that's quite something...

Must have been so satisfactory for Mariela 😂

Hello @seki1
