Pablo and the wishing well. ~ The Ink Well Prompt #82

in The Ink Well2 years ago

In a small town in Venezuela, there is a small legend that says that if you find a well in the intense jungle and throw a coin in it, any wish you make will be granted, as long as you are a very good person, otherwise you would never be able to find the wishing well, no adult or teenager in the town would look for it, because they all had a little hidden secret, which revealed that they were not good people.

A little boy named Pablo, from that town, was already a little tired of hearing about that legend and was always trying to find that well every time he had the opportunity to go to the jungle, days after days the boy tried and nothing to find it, suddenly decided to stop looking, as he was invaded by a thought that the legend was a lie, he began to behave excellent and everyone in town was surprised by his change, many came to think that it was to find the wishing well.

The boy Pablo felt in the deepest part of his being and to the bones he felt the desire to find that well, since his family was one of the poorest in town and he dreamed that his family could eat until they were satisfied and could wear new clothes, something that he and his family could not do, many times Pablo and everyone in his family had to go out to work when a member of his family got sick, Little by little the boy Pablo was changing completely and even his thoughts, since sometimes he was a little selfish and almost always lied, the boy Pablo could realize that if he wanted to find the wishing well someday, he had to be an honorable person.

After several years, Pablo had ceased to be a tremendous child and had become a very handsome and honorable teenager, wherever Pablo went, he always caused a kind of attraction. Pablo had forgotten about that legend and had gone to live at an aunt's house in a distant city, that aunt had gone to look for him, since she could give him a better education and he could have a better future.

After a few years Pablo had already graduated as a business administrator and decided to go to the town where his closest relatives still lived and take some gifts, when he was preparing his suitcases he felt a call of nature and went to the window of his room and looked out the window looking at Asia in the direction of his hometown and that was when he remembered the old legend of the wishing well.

During the night, when he slept, he could feel the call even in his bones, so much so that he woke up in the middle of the night, when he got up he went to the kitchen to get a glass of hot milk to see if he could make him sleepy again, since the trip to his town would be a little tiring, minutes after getting the glass of hot milk, he went into his room and turned on the TV, while he was watching a program he got sleepy, Pablo programmed the TV to turn itself off, he proposed to go to sleep.

Hours passed since Pablo fell asleep, his aunt knocked on his door to get him up for breakfast before he left for the town where his family was, several hours later he was on his way to town, when his family arrived they received him with great happiness and the next day Pablo told his father that he was going out to look for the wishing well and that it would probably take a week, that he should not worry about him if he did not return, he would be fine, sure, and he replied that of course he would!

The next day being in the jungle with everything necessary to survive more than 7 days, and when he had 3 days in the jungle he manages to visualize in the distance as an opening in the ground, he begins to walk Asia the opening and as he gets closer he realizes that he found the well, but he does not know if it is the well that the legend tells, although his heart and his bones tell him that if it is the well of desires.

He wished to his bones that his family would no longer be poor and that there would be no more poor families in his village, then he tossed the coin and fell to his knees weeping with happiness.

Very nice story, I loved it

This story has the charm of naïf art. A wishing well and a boy who becomes a good person to access the well's power. Some nonsense phrases may appear from a misspelling in the writing before it was translated into English. We hope you will review the guidelines for publication in The Ink Well. We have a policy of curating only one submission per author within seven days. Observing community standards, taking care in writing, and maintaining interactions with other writers are elements we appreciate and are reflected in the writing rewards.

I like the story, but I love the drawings (the tip is for the drawings, mostly 😇). You are perfecting your technique. These go along nicely with the story, which is very sweet.

You used the bones prompt well

@agmoore, Thank you very much for your words, and we are grateful for your tip, I really appreciate it and I always try to grow and improve. I hope to achieve a greater improvement, although I need to practice more the drawings with paint. Again, thank you very much.

I always enjoy a fantastic tale or fable. But we never find out what happened after the man tossed the coin in though? Thank you for writing.

@warpedpoetic, The wish he made is that his family would no longer be poor and that there would be no more poor people in the village, what I tried to convey is that being a good person has its rewards.

Oh okay. Would have loved to see.if his wish came through, is all.

@pjpavan Pablo became a big man by reading and writing, but he still has the legend of the well in his mind, whereas in today's modern era only science and technology have been recognized, and this modern society has rejected the old beliefs.
I also, remember such tales of grandparents.

@fantom22, They say that to remember is to live, I remember the stories of my grandparents and I could spend hours listening to them, one of my grandfather was Italian and I remember the stories he told me, I miss those days, but how happy I am to remember them. thanks for your comment.

@pjpavan not only do we miss our grandparents but also miss all the people of the world and their experiences shared with us.

At last he found the well of his dreams.
I enjoyed your story really.

@stellageorge, Thanks for your comment and I'm glad you liked my story.
