Keeping the dream alive.

"What do you want to become in the future when you grow up?" Mrs. David asked her little daughter Rose, who was only 9 years old,

"I want to be a model when I grow up, Mom." Rose responded with a big smile.

"My friend thinks about something else: you cannot make it through modeling; why not go in for something else, maybe nursing or even engineering, just not modeling?" Mr. David shouted from the balcony as he rushed back to the sitting room to join the conversation.

"Dad, that is the only thing I have passion for; I feel that is the only thing I can do." Rose responded.

"As much as we love the idea of it, but in this country and probably even in the works, people don't make it through modeling. You will work yourself out with no result to show for it." Mrs. David said as she drew her daughter close.

"But Mom," Rose was about to complain more before

Rose still did not allow the negative energy around her to sink in; she believed the only way a boat can sink is if the water around it gets in, but if it doesn't, the water around it helps it to float. Unlike other kids, all she spends her time on is watching fashion shows and runway models and trying to imitate how they walk and pose at the end of their walk. She grew up and met friends too that did not see her dream ever becoming a reality, and it was a cause to worry.

Rose watched her diet and did a lot of workouts just to keep her body fit and make sure nothing stands in her way when she gets an opportunity to pursue her dream because she believes an opportunity will come, and keeping the dream alive is the only way she would be able to grab or hop on the opportunity when it comes. Rose grew up, gained admission into college, and joined a modeling agency without her parent's consent, where she was being groomed and had to attend rehearsals every day to perfect her walk.

"Becoming a model is difficult, but if you keep working, one day an opportunity will come." Her manager and coordinator said as he addressed them after rehearsal.

"I will not back down now; I have come a long way." Rise said to herself, and this has always been what she tells herself whenever she feels like giving up on her dream of ever becoming a model.

After rehearsal everyone was about to leave the building when the manager called Rose. "I would like to see you briefly, Rose. Hope you have got a few minutes to spare?" Her manager asked politely.

"For you? I have an hour to spare, sir." Rose responded.

"There is a beauty pageant coming up in a few weeks, and I would like you to be the one to represent this modeling agency. I want to know if you are ready or if I should just pick somebody else." The manager said, looking her in the eye.

"I have waited for an opportunity like this all my life. I am ready, sir, and I promise I would make you proud." Rose responded with excitement and hope that with this her dream would become a reality.

"Good, practice more as we wait for the big day. There are lots of prices, and this could open doors for you." The manager said as he walked away.

"Yessssssss." Rose shouted as she exited the building.

Time flies, and it was time to do what was expected of her; she had dedicated more of her time to rehearsals and perfected her walk and appearance. During the contest, her performance was outstanding, both during questions and answers, cultural dance, and modeling. Her performance made her stand out, and the audience could already point out the winner, but everyone had to wait on the judges to do their job, and hopefully they would be fair and give the rewards to those who merit them.

"The time we have all been waiting for is here, and it is time to announce the winner, and it is no other person than contestant number 3, in person of Roseee." The judge screamed at the top of his voice as Rose ran out to collect her award.

"I did it, Mom. I did not back down, and I made it." Rose said to her mom over the phone and in tears

Winning this paved the way to more contests for her, and she started her modeling career in full. She got gigs and became a well-known model. Her dreams became a reality, and she proved those who did not believe that her dreams were valid wrong.

Sort:

It is a strong conviction for a child to believe so much in themselves. Rose eventually found her favor.

That was a good one.

Thanks for dropping by.

Rose determination makes her dream to come true even though her parent didn't support her. What a lesson to learn from her.

Determination is all that keeps us going, nothing is easy to achieve but with determination we can.
