Dera has been that one friend who has been with me through highs and lows and will always want me to be part of whatever he is into; some of these things went as planned, while some came crashing down, and we had to find a way to deal with our losses. He was the strong one because sometimes I panic after a loss, or the feeling of losing again sometimes overwhelms me, and he will be there to cheer me up and help me get back on my feet, and then we go try something else to see if that works out well.
"You know our house rent will be due in 2 months' time; we really need to get something to work and avoid the landlord coming here to embarrass us." I said to Dera on our way back from school.

"I know that, bro. Why do you think I have been making all these phone calls and asking friends and family for updates and anything they are into that pays?" Dera said with a tone.
"Bro, don't talk to me with that tone. I am not the one that said you should not be born with a silver spoon." I teased as I tapped the back of his head.
"Hahaha," Dera laughed. "At least I know you too don't have any silver spoon anywhere; we are all in this together." He added, making gestures with his hands.
We got home, and the landlord was at our door; more like he was waiting for us, and that left us shocked, as our rent will expire in 2 months, and we were not expecting him anywhere near us until then.
"Good afternoon, sir." Dera and I greeted the landlord.
"Good afternoon, gentlemen. Before you say anything, because I know you too don't owe at all, I just came to remind everyone whose rent expires in 2 months to start making preparations, as I will not tolerate anybody for even a day." The landlord said before we even asked why he was at our door.
"Thank God you know we don't owe, and since you know we don't owe, I think this reminder of yours was not necessary." Dera, who was already bothered about the rent, said,
"No preferential treatment; I just came to give everyone a heads up. No exemption." The landlord responded as he walked away.
"You need to calm down, bro; you are getting yourself worked up." I said, tapping Dera on his shoulder. "Two months is enough time to raise the rent." I added as he opened the door.
The room was silent that day until Dera got off the phone with a friend with smiles all over his face.
"Did you win a lottery?" I asked him.
"Noo, bro, you know crypto has been making waves lately. I have a friend who is into crypto and has promised to be sending me trading signals. All I need for a start is at least $30, and I am all set." Dera said with so much excitement.
"If he is good and knows the market very well and how to analyse, then that is good thing, but if he doesn't, then I don't support that." I advised
"You worry too much; I trust him." Dera responded as he walked towards the kitchen.
"How about the start up capital? Do you have it?" I asked.
"I will take from what I have saved for rent; we need money to make money, so I am willing to take the risk." Dera responded.
"This is kind of a bad idea, though. What if it does not work out?" I asked Dera as I stood up from the bed.
"That is why it is called a risk, chill, bro. It will work out; let's be positive." Dera said, proving that his mind was made up.
The first few weeks of receiving signals from his friend were good, as he made so much profit and was even able to raise the rent and had extra.
"You have been able to raise this rent and have extra; why not withdraw the money for rent and use the rest to keep on trading?" I asked Dera.
"It has not gone bad since, so what makes you think it will be different now? Don't worry, everything is fine." Dera responded.
As always, at some point people tend to get greedy; instead of withdrawing, he decided to use all the money he had made on a single trade, and that one went bad, and he lost everything. Even the start-up capital and the profit he made all vanished into thin air, and he was left with nothing. I was supposed to be mad at him, but it was his money, and he had the right to do whatever he chose with it all. All I had to do was cheer him up.

"Like you already know, Dera, we win some and we lose some; we cannot win it all. You just need another startup capital, and you will get back all you have lost." I said to cheer Dera up, who was sitting like a lifeless body on the cushion he was on when he discovered the trade placed went sideways.
"The coveted breaks the pocket," is a phrase that is often said around here. The allure of quick and easy money is very tempting and can easily lead us astray. It's a shame about your friend.
