Tears slips down Kinzo's face as he stares at the vast ocean in front of him,it seems so insurmountable that he looks for a place to shade.

As he sits in a shade,he drifts into an uneasy dreamless sleep.
Kinzo is startled awake by a rope being tired around his arm,he tries to shake his oppressor off and invites more hands to grip him like an iron vice as the rope is tied securely,He feels a sharp pain, and loses Consciousness he is knocked out cold.
Eyes still closed Kinzo could hear muted conversation and groans around him.
Cautiously he opens one eye to peep around him,and is shocked as he sees people of various ages tied to stock in a vast wooden basement or was it a boat?.He couldn't tell the difference.
As he stares in amazement,he feels a leg prod his back, looking behind him he sees another young boy barely two years his junior.
As he tries to speak he felt a hot white pain creep up his back before he hears the sound of the whip as he falls unconscious.
He is woken by a rough shake, put on his feet and bound to other captives as it dawn on him,he has become a slave..

thank you so much

You capture a terrible moment in human history, @octaviusx . A moment that has been repeated thousands of times in different cultures throughout time. The cruel treatment of a child is the ultimate expression of the slave mentality.

Thank you for your vote

I've read about slavery. I've written about slavery. I've seen TV shows and movies that depict slavery. Rarely has a piece captured the terror and cruelty of becoming a slave as this one does.

This a great, powerful piece.

Hive Power Up Month - Feedback from Day 12

Slavery... what a heavy topic considering the current political climate. Nice story by the way.

Thank you so much

Well done, @octaviusx. What a terribly brutal time in our history. It's so heartbreaking to think about the brutality the captured slaves experienced.

Short but point well driven home. I feel sorry for the people that go through such a situation.

Kinzo was just enjoying the ocean view. Becoming a slave must have been terrible, the worst experience ever. Society will have to evolve some more so that this won't happen again. Powerful in its simplicity. Your story is a reflection man's history. Well done.

Beautiful poignant moment. The heartbreak of losing one's freedom to slavery. Well written story and perfect size.

This short story is very powerful! May we never forget that slavery is cruel and inhuman.

Thanks so much for writing this, and welcome to the Inkwell.
