Drelor had left the Village to go foraging for food and water at the dead of night to avoid the monsters that always seemed to be everywhere at the break of dawn. He'd never had the opportunity to see one upclose, but rumor had it that they came in various shapes and sizes but all they had in common was they where very loud and humongous.
As he crossed through a forest he heard a loud sound heard something land on a patch of trees ahead flattening them, as he broke into a run, it occurred to him that it might be one of the the beasts he's heard so much about.
Picking he's way out of the forests he soon came to a clearing that loomed over a massive cavern.
He heard loud crunching noise as the beast stepped over the cavern like it barely existed.
As he watched the beast move into the distance, he spread his wing and flew after hoping to find out more.
As he flew thoughts of those in the village came to him, they must all think I'm probably dead he thought.
But the thirst for adventure took over, and he flew faster determined to see it all for himself and never let fear guide him again
In this short story you have taken us to a different world, @octaviusx.
The winged people, tiny in comparison to the monstrous giants, tell us of a strange world. We are left, as readers, wanting to know more about these tiny people.

Thanks for sharing your short story in The Ink Well, @octaviusx. I would call this one a "micro fiction" piece. There are many people who like to write these very succinct short stories of 250 words or less. It's an interesting creative adventure to write something meaningful and engaging in so few words.
