Your story really does capture the saying that we shouldn't be quick to dodge. if Miss Ada has at least tried to listen (actually, most teachers don't once they catch a student cheating), David life would have ended up better than it did. It's good that they were able to talk things out in the garden and David is such a nice soul, for him not to hold any grudge against her. It's a rare kind of kindness.
