Yes! I will be your girlfriend.

Felix looked at the blank space on his computer keyboard. It was funny how a writer was finding it hard to write something as simple as 'hi'. But the thing was he didn't feel writing just 'hi' and sending it to a total stranger that he found attractive online, it didn't feel appropriate. He needed to add something, something that would make her smile when she sees his text and something that would make her text him back. So he got his finger ready and typed what his guts told him to.

“Hello pretty, how are you doing?” He clicked send and prayed she responded. He hadn't wooed a lady for so long that he had gotten rusty. His last break up had been about a year ago and he had stayed as far away from women as possible. The breakup had been so nasty that he had almost given up on women.

But somehow he had been scrolling through Facebook and had seen the profile of a lady whose name was Adaugo and something deep down in him had told him to send a friend request. He knew she probably had a billion friend request waiting already because she was beautiful and other guys would want her attention too, so he had decided to go the extra mile, to send a friend request accompanied with a text.

Cupid, the god of love must have been on Felix's side because she replied after some few days and they both had kicked it off from there. They have both exchanged numbers and Felix called her at every opportunity he had. There was no doubt he was already in love with her. Even his roommate had to take the pillows away from him and keep them somewhere safe whenever he was on the phone with Adaugo because of the way he suffocated it between his legs whenever he spoke to her on the phone. An act that showed he no longer knew what he was doing. Felix was deep and there obviously was no bringing him back. The only thing his roommate could do was watch and hope this all ended well like it does in every of Felix stories that he had written, the happily ever after kinda stories.

The duo spoke on the phone for as long as they could. One thing was certain, they weren't the only ones having a good time, the telecommunication company was too, because of the amount of airtime they spent talking to each other on the phone, but they cared less. They both were in love and they both were willing and ready to spend whatever it took to see that love grow.

But Felix knew everything wasn't settled yet. He knew she loved him and he loved her but she wasn't his yet. He needed to ask her properly, and since they both were staying at different states, he planned on doing it over the phone. They had made plans to meet but Felix just couldn't wait.. So he summoned up courage one evening and did what he hoped he wouldn't regret, he asked her the question.

“Adaugo, I knew I loved you the moment I saw your picture on Facebook, but then I fell more in love with you when I spoke to you over the phone and knew more about you. I can't even imagine how I would feel when I eventually get to meet you in person but I know it would be nothing but total bliss. So Adaugo, would you make me the happiest man on earth by being my girlfriend?” Felix said to her over the phone and waited for her response but she said nothing, other than just breathe.

Felix felt sad and thought he had messed it up by asking her such question and was about ending the call when he heard a whisper..

Hi joker33. Thanks for sharing your story in The Ink Well. That's an interesting method — using the last line of the story as the title! Very clever. Felix seems to have found his match.

We hope you're open to feedback, as we often will share ideas with the writers in our community about how they can improve their writing. One thing you could consider is including more dialog, especially, from Adaugo. Since the interactions between the two people are mostly summarized, it's a little difficult to get to know Adaugo and what makes her so attractive to Felix, other than her pretty picture on Facebook.

Good luck with your writing! Oh, and please be sure to check out our community rules on our home page. For example, we ask that all members of the community read and comment on at least two other stories for every story they post. This keeps our community strong and ensures all writers get eyes on their work.

Alright.. Thanks for the advice, will do better next time.

A beautiful story of online romance... And with today's technology, anything is truly possible. Especially true love. And your story shows that clearly.
This is a good piece @joker33, keep it up.

Thank you.

Thank you for posting this story about the close encounters that occur online, @joker33 .
I hope the protagonists get a chance to get to know each other, that they are not disappointed by the expectations that are made in virtual relationships.

Thank you.

It's a beautiful story and realistic as well. Like those pillow thing, staying so much time on the phone and wondering if he can have a love story. Well, it's expected since we are not sure if the one we love will love us.

You wrote a story about what happens when a person's inlove. I just hope to hear Audugo's response.
