The Rival

Oche turned off the engine, got out of the car and made a slamming noise as he jammed the door of the car. This was an intentional noise he had made to forewarn his talkative neighbours of his present bad mood. Dejectedly, he made his way to his own apartment in the condominium.

Having got inside, again, he slammed the door behind him and sunk into his sofa and a deep reflection of what had set him off the rails.
It was Lyla. Or better still, it was that son of a bitch, Kolade, his eternal rival. Their rivalry had begun when Kolade got employed into the same insurance company and became a tough competition for the 'Employee of the month' award. Today, he had just lost the award the second time in a row to him. To make matter worse, he had overheard Kolade asking Lyla out on a date.

After robbing me of my award, would this bastard also rob me of my woman? No, no, hell no!!
He thought aloud within himself.
He hated that he was feeling such rage and jealousy over a girl he hadn't amassed the courage to approach. But he wasn't one to wallow in defeat. He had the eye of a tiger. Getting up from the sofa, he made up his mind to give Kolade the fight of his life.
