Yes! Floyd has been accused of having a very low sense of humor. Most things that sound funny and make most people laugh crazily, either appear unserious to Floyd or outrightly annoying. Floyd has always lived his life as a nerd, full hair, quiet and as observant as a snake, but most of all, he loves to read. Reading has become cultural to Floyd so much that he had crafted into his daily time table, a specific period allotted for reading everyday.

On this revered Valentine's day, Floyd's cousin Amanda thought to visit him. She knew quite well that Floyd doesn't have a girlfriend or perhaps not even friends. Amanda is a soft soul who is known for her quick wit and her irrepressible sense of humor. Amanda is also like a thorn in the flesh of Floyd because she would always rob the unsocial self of Floyd right in his face at every chance she gets. Amanda always visits Floyd's house unannounced because she knew that Floyd would never voluntarily accept that she should come over.
Floyd heard a bang on the door, "one hell of a crazy bang" He muttered with a sense of shock and surprise. "Don't break the door!" He replied barely loud as he raced through to open it. Floyd talks quietly, he hates noises, so much that he considers affirmative speaking as yelling.
"Hello Mr. Boring!!" Amanda yelled right to his face and jumped on him.
"Oh my God!" Floyd mummured in disbelief "why didn't you say something? Who invited you?" Floyd asked her as he tried to get her off him.
"Exactly the reason i didn't" clingy Amanda stayed put and refused to let go. "Say welcome and I will let go" Amanda requested.
"Welcome Amanda"
"Thank you Mr. Boring"
Amanda jumped down and they both walked inside. Amanda kept staring and scanning all the corners of the house as though she was looking for something specifically. Floyd already knew that this action is mischievous and only a matter of seconds before a question or a request pops, and he was right after all.
"Where is your girlfriend, today is Valentine?" Amanda asked, throwing her face far away from Floyd. Floyd looked at her with amazement. They both know that he doesn't have a girlfriend, so what's the need for that question.
"Well, since you don't have any, I will be your girlfriend today, put on some clothes, we are going out" Amanda commanded, dumped her pause on his chest and walked right into the kitchen.
She made something for them to eat and afterwards they headed out for a valentine experience. Floyd thought the perfect valentine would be going out to a fancy restaurant to eat and going back home, but she already made food before they left. That was a sign of something not adding up.
They both left in Floyd's car and went down to the Riverside. Floyd is potamophobic; he has never been into a swimming pool before, let alone a whole river. He couldn't even stand the sight of the river but today, Amanda bought into his ego and consciousness as a man.
"See, if you don't ride on this river, you are nothing but an infant" Amanda dared him.

Riding on the beach was not the experience that Floyd would ever want to have but he rode together with Amanda. He believed she was experienced in this and she would protect him every step of the way. They rode on a speed boat and they had life jackets on the whole time. There were times that the boat was taking off at full speed and Floyd's heart was constantly in his palms. There were moments when they experienced upthrust and Floyd would scream out loud. Other times it seemed like the boat was bent, Floyd would grab Amanda so tight.
Amanda kept laughing and making videos of all these moments. They rode multiple times so much that the phobia somehow left Floyd. As they drove home, Amanda told the stories of his reactions as a tale that sparked humor for them both. Amanda had never seen Floyd laugh out so loud before, even Floyd himself couldn't even believe his laughter could be so loud. Though Amanda is naturally funny. She could pick an ordinary event and tell the story in a form that would make most people laugh. The way Amanda painted Floyd's reaction seemed more funny to him than the videos she made.
Both Floyd and Amanda stayed between laughter and argument till they got home. Amanda drove in and parked. Before Floyd could open the car door, another vehicle was already at the near road side waiting. It was Amanda's boyfriend, they had a dinner night planned and she was already walking off. Floyd was a little disappointed that the moment didn't linger for a little longer but was thankful for a day like this.
He overcame his phobia and still he had fun outside his comfort zone for the first time in his life.
"That counts for something!" He patted his chest and walked to unlock his door.

Doing the things that you fear, has a way of liberating the soul.
That definitely counted for something. I can imagine all of that excitement and adrenaline rush that Floyd experienced, thanks to Amanda.
What a great impact Amanda made in Floyd's life. Having people like Amanda can made life sweet and colourful.
