A Dream Come True

From a very tender age, Dan had only one aspiration - to become the richest man in the whole of his town. Growing up into a young man with six packs, curling hair, and glowing skin - he worked assiduously still, in order to see his dream come to fruition.

Life has continuously served him a plate assorted with troubles and challenges. The cry of his mother over the phone delivered sour news that his father was rushed to the hospital, and was dying slowly. The doctors demanded for payment, but there was no money. Dan clinched to his phone, bedazzled at his situation.

Dan couldn't hold tears from coming down his face, "This is the climax of it all. My dad is sick. I'm broke. If he dies in that hospital, how will I live with myself?" Immediately, Dan went into his room, grabbed a few clothes, and the little money he had left - which could only cover for his transport fee back home. He was sweaty, and his shirt clung to his body, as he thought only of the journey back home.

After paying for bus ticket, he was now completely left without a dime. A devastating hunger made his belly sing unpleasant songs. As Dan held his belly in agony, Angela noticed from afar that he was famished. She walked to him, and asked him, "Can I buy you something to eat?" Dan wondered how she knew, and nodded gently. She quickly got food. Dan devoured the food in a blitz with unusual dexterity.

Dan was about to talk to Angela, when the bus driver beckoned on all passengers to get on the bus. Dan got in first, and Angela sat by his side. Dan turned to Angela, and said, "Thank you for the food." She replied, "You're welcome." As the journey went on, Angela noticed how devoid of emotions Dan's face was, so she asked him, "What's the problem?" Dan then told Angela of the problem his family is confronted with at the moment, without any deviation from the truth.

Angela's face went all gloomy, as a result of what Dan told her. She asked Dan, "How do you earn a crust?" Dan replied, "I've not been able to get a good job after graduation. I do menial jobs here and there, just to get by." Dan continued, "In all earnestness, sometimes I just hate my life." Angela held his hand and said, "It will be alright."

The bus finally arrived at its destination Ajaola Town, Angela told Dan that she wants to follow him to go see his sick dad at the hospital. Dan's mom embraced him tightly on seeing him at the hospital. Angela asked for the doctor, and made full payment for Dan's father treatment. Dan was really grateful and overjoyed - he hugged her. Angela then dipped her hand into her bag, and gave Dan an invitation card to a party that her family was throwing in 3 days time.

When Dan got to the location on the invitation card, he was shocked to his bone marrow that Angela was the only daughter of the richest man in their town. He needed a bang on his head to bring him down to earth. From a distance, Angela sighted him, and quickly ran to hug him. She asked after his dad. Dan said, "My dad is doing well, thanks to you." Angela was glad to hear that. She took Dan to her dad, and introduced him, "Father...this is Dan - the man I want to get married to."

Dan was confused, in his mind he said, "This must be a dream." Angela's dad walked closer to Dan, took a very deep look at him. He smiled and said, "Angela my daughter, I like him. His eyes radiate the power to handle my wealth." And Dan felt like he wasn't earthbound, as his aspiration of becoming the richest man in his town, has come to fruition.
