The Legend of Princess Alina / Month of July ,The Ink Well Contest

It is said that in the Rainbow Kingdom, from time to time, the melody of a beautiful bird with splendid pink plumage and a long black beak is heard, some say that it is the very princess Alina, the legend says that one day she escaped from the castle and never came back.

Alina was the only daughter of Queen Juliet and King Aaron, despite being surrounded by luxuries, she grew up with much sadness, because she felt lonely, she lived locked in her room, which was in the highest tower of the castle, she hardly saw her parents, her company were the servants, a cat and some birds that came to the window of her room.

One day, Alina was lying on the balcony and she heard:

"Why are you sad?"

She turned to all sides and only saw a bird of many colors, "I must have imagined it!", she thought.

"It is I, who speaks to you."

What a surprise, the bird flew and landed right in front of Alina's face, the girl took a step back, and asked:

"Can you speak?

"Yes, princess, I haven't done it before, so as not to scare you, every day, I come here and hear you cry, I see the sadness in your eyes, I would like to help you, but I don't know how to do it".

"The only thing I want is to get out of this castle and be free," Alina said, her eyes fixed on the horizon.

"I can help you."

"How could you do that, being so small."

"I tell you, I can do it."

"The castle is very well guarded, even from this tower, I can't get out."

"I'll help you get out, you'll see."

Alina watched the bird fly away and thought about what had happened, "Is it really talking?" she asked herself, after a while she went into her room, took a book from the bedside table and dropped it on the floor to lie down to read it.

Alina fell asleep, but some noises on the balcony woke her up, she got up and was dumbfounded to see that the bird had returned, other birds accompanied it, they had brought a strange package.

"Open it," said the bird.

"What is it, this?"

"Your ticket to freedom."

Alina opened the package and asked again "What is this?"

"A parachute."

"A parachute? I don't understand, how can this be my ticket to freedom, it's just cloth and rope."

The bird showed Alina how to put on the parachute and she followed his instructions, with the parachute on, he said:

"Climb up to the balcony railing and jump into the void".

"I don't want to die, I just want to be free".

"Don't be afraid, this is the only way you can get out of the castle".

Alina listened to the bird, climbed to the edge of the balcony and from there jumped; Then the bird told her to pull a rope, she did it and the parachute opened, with the breeze, she flew through the air, until she reached the highest mountain in the kingdom, where the birds helped her to stop and descend.

The young girl, was happy, to be out of those 4 walls, she ran from one side to another, jumped; There she stayed in a cave, her new friends, were in charge of bringing her food, she did not miss anything of her home, but one day, a bird, arrived with bad news:

"Alina, you must flee, some soldiers, of those that the King, deployed to find you, have surrounded the mountain, soon they will be here", he said.

This made the princess very sad - "Why is he looking for me, if he doesn't want me".
Quickly, the bird brought the parachute, told Alina to put it on and jump, so she did, just in time, because the soldiers had already arrived at the place.

The bird indicated to Alina, to pull the rope, so that the parachute would open, but she did not want to do it, and said:

"Now that I know freedom, I would rather die, than be locked up again."

Then, she let herself fall, the birds begged her to open the parachute, but she did not do it, then, just when she was about to crash to the ground, the bird said a few words, Alina's body was filled with light and suddenly became a large pink bird, since then she is heard singing sweetly in the treetops around the Castle, her song was so sublime, that all mute to hear it; At least, that is what the legend tells.
