It went wrong

Chioma has decided to live her life the way she wants it, and no one will stop her because it's her life and her decision. She will enjoy the consequences that comes with it.

Chioma was my best friend when we were still in primary school. We became so close that we didn't hide anything from each other, and that helped us to know when one of us was going the wrong part, tho we were still children.

Myself

During secondary school years, Chioma made new friends who now made her see that she could live her life anyhow because she had no one to give account to.

Unfortunately, Chioma gave in to the pressure from those bad gangs in school, and gradually, we were not as close as we used to be, so I can't explained Chioma's activity any longer.

It was time for the secondary school final-year exam and everyone was busy with their books because no one wanted to come back and sit for the second time, I couldn't join because of some financial challenges my family faced, but I was still going for lessons so that I won't fill too bad about the whole situation.

But Chioma was missing classes, and she had no valid reason to give when she was summoned by the school principal, so the principal demanded that I come over because she thought I was Chioma's best friend, so I should know what was going on with her.

The principal asked me "What's wrong with Chioma? Why is she not active with the final year lessons for the exams?"

"Mrs. Ojo honestly I don't know" I replied

"How can you say you don't know, She is your friend from all I know," the principal said to me.

"Honestly, I am so concerned and touched over her behavior lately, especially during this period when she should be ever serious with her books," I replied to Mrs Ojo, the principal.

"Even you who's not sitting for the exams this year are more active than her, there must be a skeleton in her cupboard," Replied Mrs Ojo.

"I have to let her parents know" Mrs Ojo continued, "So that the school will not be blamed for anything"

Mrs Ojo wrote a copy of a letter inviting Chioma's parents for a brief meeting. She gave the letter to Chioma and was hoping to see Chioma's parents, but unfortunately, Chioma didn't deliver the letter to her parents.

Chioma's mother was late, so she was living with her stepmom, who was not paying attention to her way of living, and the father wasn't always at home.

After two weeks, the principal asked Chioma, "Why haven't your parents come to see me?" She said "My mom has not been around, she has been busy"

But the principal sensed that she was lying so she decided to try to reach her parents through another means, so she called me and said "Beauty you will have to go and tell Chioma's parents that I want to see them"

I replied, "Okay, Mrs Ojo.

After school hours, I headed straight to Chioma's to deliver the message from Mrs Ojo the principal, but something that suggested that there was a skeleton in Chioma's cupboard happened.

Chioma saw me approaching their house, and she immediately ran to meet me, she said, "Why are you here?" The principal said I should drop a message to your parents" I replied.
Chioma said "Don't worry I will deliver the message"

I was surprised, and I asked her "Do you know the content of the message?" She said "Beauty if you don't want to have problems with me just leave my father's compound this minute"

I became speechless over the whole issue, I stood still and contemplated what to do next, and if I left, what would I tell Mrs. Ojo the next day?

Immediately, I turned back looking ahead. I saw her father driving in with his motorcycle, immediately, Chioma said, "Just keep your mouth shut." I said, "No, I will deliver the message." "Try me," she replied aggressively.

As the father put off his motorcycle he saw that look in us sending signals that all was not well, so he asked "What's going on Chioma and Beauty"

Chioma quickly replied "Nothing papa"
And I added "Nothing just that Mrs. Ojo wants to discuss something very important and urgent with you"

Chioma's father said, "Oh really, why didn't she send the message through Chioma? Why sending you?"
"Because she sent Chioma over time, and there was no response from you," I replied.

"Chioma did you ever tell me that your principal wants to see me?" He asked Chioma.
"Dady, I forgot," Chioma replied.

He also sensed that something was wrong with the daughter and he promised to see the principal the next day and I left.

Chioma's dad came the next day to meet with the principal and he was told everything about how chioma's behavior lately even though she was in an exam class.
The father was surprised because he said Chioma leaves the house every day for school and he has given her all the necessary fees for the exam so he needs to find out what its going on.

He left and summoned Chioma at home, after much interrogation and beating she confessed that she was pregnant and didn't want her classmates or anyone to know, so she was going to a hospital where she planned to abort the baby.

Chioma's father reported back to Mrs Ojo and Chioma's name was removed from the exam candidates, she didn't join the exams again, and she has to face some discipline from her father.
