Taro's granddad prompts him to a quest to get the kiss of a carp through his stories. It's good Taro experimented on that idea as a grown man and a samurai. Though he didn't get the said kiss, I think he will believe his grandad's stories less. Maybe also he could get the luck he's after from some other avenue other than the kiss of a carp.
