Spending some days with Grandma. See what I learnt from her.

in Weekend Experiences3 months ago

Hey guys ...
Trust our week was good and nice..
Its has been long i wrote something on how i spend my weekend. Usually i'm always the kind of a busy type of person but despite the fact of my tight schedule i decided to share something concerning how my weeks was spent. Why is this one so perculiar and so important to me because it was so funny and stressful but i enjoy it any way.
So, lets continue. I decided to travelled to visits my grandmother in one of the middle belt state in Nigeria which is Benue state though the journey was a bit hectic but guys i have taken my decision.
On getting to her place, i rested for the whole day because i had a stressful journey. I really encounter a lot of insults from those conductors say they wanna help my movement through and makes it easier for me. I am talking about those that helps the driver to filled up passengers for movement.
All i know is, the help is for their stomach and thier benefits. Any way, enough of such stories. Lets me tell you something amazing and what I learnt staying with grandma for few days. There is no day i go to grandma place and I don't learnt something new either words of encouragement or foodies .
One of those one that really captures my attention is "a bird at hand is better than a bird in the bush" ha ...what does that mean? , some one might be wondering the meaning of this words. well the meaning is what ever work you are doing at presence is better than those ones out there, no matter how it look better than the one you are doing at a presence.
Finally is also better than millions of job out there that you haven't been employed off.
So you must be diligent in all you are doing. There is always wisdom being around her.
For the foodies learnt in grandma place was something so amazing because i haven't do such before. The next day, grandma made me know that there are work she needed me to do for her but the amazing thing is that i haven't do such and gorgeous work before but do i have a choice ? No. I have to learn and help her do the work to the best i can.
I was waiting to hear and see the kind of work but guess what it was akpu ..
Akpu is one of food that look like pounded yam but is made differently. This particular food is usually acceptable especially the Eastern part of Nigeria widely eaten by the people from the side but now almost every body eat it example I am included even though i am not from there.
Usually i do eat akpu but any time i wanna eat such kind of food ,i only buy from the market or any nearby shop around me that sells it but this one eh....i will be involved with others staying with her to process it ...ha guys it's was not funny.

Well the process was simple any way.
The first step is to suck the casava for at least 3-4 days in which it has already been done waiting for the next step.
Guys for those 3-4 days just know that its must smell but to make the work easy you have to change the water before pressing using your hand.
So we changed the water and begins to press until we were done.
Any one you can't pressed is eliminated and throw away to the bin.
The basket was used to separate and sieve the starch out because that is the real akpu.
After all the process you squeeze it using a different kind of sieve to squeeze or drain all the whole water away from it.
This was how i spent the weeks ...
See you next time for next weeks story's spent.
Thanks guys for reading through my blog....
