WEEKEND EXPERIENCES: THIS WEEKEND, I THINK ABOUT MY NAME

This weekend I thought about my name or what would be my name as an entry for this second weekend of November in this Weekend Experiences community. But before that, let me share with you some of my experiences from yesterday, November 12, saturday.

Last Friday evening, my mom called me. telling me that my older sister's boyfriend will fetch me in the house because I will be going to their place because I won't have a companion again in our house this weekend because my Grandma will go in the Laoag. She will attend the debut party of my distant younger cousin. She doesn't want me to stay in the house alone. Knowing that, I agreed because I wanted to watch a "liga" or basketball game by the SK officials in the barangay where my sister's house is located. because her boyfriend was a SK chairman.

I was so shocked because the vehicle that he used to fetch me was unimpeded. But thinking that my dog will enjoy the ride because he really likes the wind every time that he travels with me, I hope that we will be safe and that we will arrive safely after the long ride.

KARAOKE TIME

Then yesterday afternoon, I was bored. I don't know what I will do because I am new in this house. Oh well, the WIFI is extended, and so I can watch some videos on Tiktok, Youtube, and Facebook here whenever I want, but I'm tired of watching. Then I found something interesting on their coach. A small Bluetooth speaker with a microphone Then I thought, "My sister is living her good life here, huh." They have WIFI, and they also have a bluetooth speaker with mic where they can sing every day and every night because we don't have this in our house. Lol

Anyway, I decided to sing. I picked a few Karaoke songs on YouTube and was glad that they had one of my favorites, "Terrified" by Katharine mcphee (karaoke Version).

I was so shy to sing because what if their neighbors didn't like my voice or how I sang? HA-HA. Oh well, I need something to do to cure my boredom anyway, so I don't care what they say, and after I sang, I laughed when my sister told me that there are liquor and soft drinks in the fridge. So I drank a one-shot glass.

And that is how I enjoyed my Saturday. I live being drunk, and I forgot that I was supposed to go watch the Liga, but since I enjoyed drinking and singing, I wasn't able to go.

I said just a one shot, but why I continued drinking?

Then this morning, Sunday, I woke up with a hangover, of course, but this can't stop me from mopping the floor because it's dirty because of their dogs. I need to help them here with the chores because I don't want to be a burden on them.

Then, I make my coffee, and while I'm sipping,... I opened my Hive account and visited this community's prompt for this weekend! And I'm glad that for today's weekend, I have something to share with you, which is why I chose this topic:

I remembered something. As a young kid, I had a lot of curiosities. There was a moment when I wanted to know if my name was not my name right now and what the other optional names were that my parents might give me. I asked my mom, "What should she name me?"

And she said that it's YSAH GABRIELLE (Yesah (not Isah) Gab-rey-le.) because it was her dream name when she was younger. She loved to play with her young siblings back then, and she said that she once named herself Ysah Gabrielle on that role play, and she promised herself that in the future, she would name her one future daughter that, but what she wanted never happened because of my father. He told my mom that their daughter's name should start with the letter "J," which is his first name, and the nickname should start with "M," which is our mom's first name.

But she told me that it was a good thing that our grandma still remembers what her daughter wants. So she called me "Ysah" always in our house, and it became my nickname aside from the nicknames that they always combined on my real name because I do have a lot of nicknames everywhere in that name.

After I learned this backstory about my name, I always dreamed of changing it, because what my mom liked to call me is better than what my real name is now. And I have two main reasons why I prefer this name too:

• I struggled a lot to handle the people who listed my name on important documents. Every time I need to fill out my name on important documents, they always misunderstand the spelling and ask me to repeat it until they get it. Same when I was born, and for my PSA, or birth certificate, I almost had the wrong spelling of my name. I'm glad that my aunt, who is a midwife, noticed it and corrected it. They mistook my second name, spelled differently, for a boy's name. Instead of writing "e," they wrote "a." And;
• I don't like my name anymore because of my father. If only I had money to change my name, especially my last name, I would change it. I really hate my name now; that's why I don't use my full name often on social media and sometimes use my mom's maiden name as my last name. But my mom told me that I should still wear my father's last name despite what happened.

After thinking about this, I hope that for just a day I can use that name. I really want to use it so I can experience using it and being called by the name given to me by my mother. Because of this community's weekend prompt about names,

I changed my username on Instagram and I am waiting for my mom's reaction when she wakes up later and sees that my username has been changed. Haha

And this is my entry for these weekend experiences. Phew! I hope I can watch "Liga" later so I can watch some handsome men playing basketball. Charought! I hope that you enjoy reading about my weekend experience this second weekend of November! Thanks for reading!
