So I have been asked, last minute, to give a presentation on a topic of my choosing. The presentation is to last 30 minutes and I have no time to prep. I just get to walk out, in front of a large group of people and spin my tale/share my wisdom. There are actually, a few things I could talk about and I already have some experience in holding workshops. Not in large groups though, so this would be a first for me.
All the things that I am passionate about, all fit under the umbrella of rewilding, homebirth, home schooling or wild schooling as I like to call it. Finding our way back to nature, growing our own food, being self sufficient. Reconnecting with our roots. All of us, have roots that go back to nature, no matter where we live or have come from. Who we are, as humans, is hugely connected to nature. Yet, society as a whole, is geared towards, taking us away from nature, from what comes naturally.
So Rewilding, would be my topic. I would start with a quick round, where each person would introduce themselves, then tell me what the word wild means to them. Because for some, the word "Wild" holds negative connotations, similar to crazy. Most of us, have been tamed as we have grown up, by our parents, the educational system, the workplace. Society, always pushes for obedience. Which makes for more suitable members of society. Of course, I'm not going to be calling for anarchy here, but instead, using the term wild, to describe, who we are at our core We are, under all the conditioning, in fact wildings.
We all have natural instincts, ones that serve us, that keep us safe. That help us navigate our lives. But if we are disconnected from our core, to our inner wilding, then those instincts are buried deep, we no longer know how to recognise them. So we find ourselves following the voice of others. Which leads to a life of disharmony. So how can we reconnect, with the wild within. Well first, we have to break down the barriers that prevent us from doing so.
The first is our relationship with the word Wild.
When you think about wild, you may think of a wild animal, a being that is fully connected with their environment, who knows what their purpose is in life. Animals that are focused and driven, that are free. Free to roam, free to be.
So how do we get to that point, where we feel free to just be.
Will first things first, we connect with our natural environment. We begin by spending more time outside, exposing ourselves to the seasons, to the elements. We make time to walk barefoot on the earth. Simple steps that anyone can take. We begin to observe how our body and mind responds to the moon and the sun, how our mood is affected by the rain and the wind. We observe our surroundings and we look to nature for guidance.
As we near the end of summer ( in the northern hemisphere that is), we take note of what is happening in the natural world. How earth prepares for autumn, when things begin to slow down, and the enrgy is directed more inwards, These lessons, are ones that we too can begin to follow. To become more insync with our natural state of being,
As much as some of us, might like the bright lights and fast paced living, it is not natural and it does bring both our minds and bodies out of balance. My presentation would include some simple exercises we can all do, some of which I have described above. Extending to what we eat and drink, being a more natural diet of natural foods. All that processed food that fills up our super markets, has a huge impact on our lives, on our ability to function on a day to day basis.
There are many directions the talk could go, but I have 30 mins only and I think it is important to have a question and answer section at the end. I would have to mention the importance of living a life, that has a low impact on our environment, as well. But I think that would go without saying, if you wish to really rewild yourself.
Yeah thinking about it, I might just go over the 30 minutes. To end it, well it would be with a roar, all of us roaring together.

Rewilding is an excellent topic. If you'd like a co speaker I'll come on stage with you. Fuck yeah.
Oh I would love that, I think we'd make a great team. Gosh we'd have so much to talk about. xxx
30 mins goes faster than you think.
Yeah I know, it would be hard to get everything in, but I would try. I'm curious now, as to how much I would be able to share xx
When one gets to talk about what they love time just seems to fly by. It's good to connect to our roots. Awesome piece.
Thanks so much @fredaa xx
