The most fun thing about walking to a new place is discovering exciting experiences

-Titis-

Visiting a new place that is far from our country, or maybe a different continent from where we are, will make us discover many new things that we have not met before.

This happened to me the first time I visited the country of a thousand poets, Turkey. Not long ago, for work, I had the opportunity to enjoy a city where hot air balloon tourism is very popular.

Visiting another country means that you are ready to adapt to the customs, culture, culture and food of that country. If asked if I had culture shock? Honestly, I experienced though not much. One of the most impactful is food.

As an Indonesian whose main food ingredient is rice, while in Turkey, I had to get used to bread for carbohydrates. Actually I can still eat rice in Turkey, but when it's breakfast time, Turkish people don't provide rice.

Recognized as a country that has lavish menu choices around the world for breakfast, I admit that Turkey is very rich in expensive and nutritious food ingredients. No less a variety of cheese, butter, and fresh fruits and various meats for the breakfast menu. Not to mention, warm breads that are beautifully displayed with good quality are also provided there. What makes me feel the most uncomfortable when tasted? Olives!

These olives are like a mandatory menu for breakfast in Turkey. Usually they will be served with bread with traditional cheese and olives.

In my country, I only know olive as cooking oil, and it is processed into beauty products. Because I was very curious about the fruit that has a myriad of benefits, I finally took some olive seeds.

How do I find black and green olives to taste bad?

IMG_20220408_145510.jpg

Here there are two kinds of olives that are ready to eat. Black and green olives. What's the difference and how does it taste that I don't like?

The original taste of olives freshly picked from the tree is very, very bitter. This means that Turkish people cannot directly consume the fruit as a side dish, but there is a salting process for approximately 6 to 12 months.

Black Olives prefer a softer texture because they are allowed to ripen on the tree at harvest. These olives must be soaked in salt for six months. The brine is changed once a month. As for Green Olives, it has a longer soaking process of up to 12 months, because green olives are harvested from a young age. The texture is denser than black olives.

However, both have a very bad taste in my opinion. Maybe because my tongue is not used to it. However, the combination of bitter and very salty is really unacceptable to my mouth.

ALthough I know olives have a lot of good for the body, but, I'm very sorry to say, that this food has a bad taste.

I want to add a little about the benefits of Olives. Besides being very good for beauty, olives also have other benefits, such as good for bones, preventing cancer cells, good for people with hypertension, maintaining brain function, and also helping to lose weight.

this was explained by my tour guide, Hamdullah Sakci. Also, many are mentioned in various sources.

Ok, hive thank you very much for reading my experience about food that I think tastes terrible. I don't know if this falls into the category already mentioned or not. But, I'm very happy to have shared it with you.

You don't like olives? Hmm, I love them, a lot. 😁

Hey, thanks for a great post, well written and good photos also! Nice work Titis.

Yeah, I don't like it. though I really wished I had liked it before I knew what it was like. But, maybe because it's my first time and I'm not used to it. But, I bought olive oil, because their olive oil is really good.😀

Thank you for the apreciating and stopping by. Have a great weekend, @galenkp

hehe I feel you! Olives are an acquired taste, it took me many years of being force fed them to eat them. Green ones are hard work, black ones are much sweeter.
Poor you as I know most Asian countries have to and I mean have to eat rice at breakfast, but the main thing is that you tried the 'foreign food'
I love going to foreign countries and eating their food. That is what life is about.
A great entry and thanks for sharing Titis:)

Yeah I finally got a team! After my first trip, I'm happy to want to repeat it again to other countries. It's fun trying new things.

Thank you for the apreciating and coment, @tengolotodo 🎉

It's fun trying new things

Yes it is, I have been to 69 countries and I love food people and cultures. Life is fun and we need to explore.

Www! that's an incredible amount. I have a lot to learn with you.

Most of them were because of my work. I did spend a week in Jakarta once and that was fun :)

What culinary or places do you like the most while in Jakarta?
