Happy weekend, Hive.
As an ordinary human being, making small mistakes that cause accidents must have been done. On purpose or not, right?
This week, the theme for weekend engagement is about accidents, and I have a story that really relates to one of my friends' choices.
The vehicle accident that made me realize the importance of wearing a helmet when riding a motorcycle
This incident happened in 2008. At that time I was just in the second grade of high school.
On a rainy morning, my sister intends to take me to school by motorbike. The motorbike we used was my uncle's motorbike that we borrowed.
It was raining hard outside, but we insisted on going because I didn't want to be late, so we said goodbye to my parents. At that time my father advised us to use two helmets, however, because i guess that one was enough, we finally left and only my sister wore a helmet.
The unexpected thing happened, because it was raining and the road was very slippery, not to mention the front tires of our motorbike had smoothed out, finally the motorbike tires slid and we fell from the motorbike into a four meters deep ravine on the side of the road.
At first, I saw my sister lying down, while I fell deep into the bottom of the ravine with my motorbike. Because of the rain, the morning was completely quiet and no other vehicles passed.
I was in a conscious state and got up to my sister, it turned out that my sister was aware. Finally we got up and asked for help.
I ran to the street and asked the locals for help, my sister also did the same. We need someone to help us get our bike up.
I felt fine until my sister finally said, my head was bleeding. Surprisingly, I never felt dizzy or sick. However, my sister panicked and took us to a nearby clinic with the help of a man we met.
After the wound was cleaned, the hair on my head was slightly clipped at the wound, only to find out that there was a three centimeters torn wound on the head. Even though the wound was open, the clinic doctor only compressed my wound and wrapped it with a bandage. Then an overnight observation was made to make sure there was no concussion. You know what's funny? My parents came and my father rushed over to me who was sleeping. He cries. My father's face at that time was very sweet. He made sure I was okay. He checked alternately between me and my sister. I'm thankful my sister is okay. So. I'm sorry and thank you for my parents.
After resting at home for a few days, my condition recovered and a little bit I started to go back to school. I thought I was completely healthy.
However, one morning when I woke up, I couldn't move my legs. I couldn't even step out of my bed.
After being examined, it turned out that my leg was traumatized from an accident two weeks ago.
Fortunately, the doctor said my condition wasn't too bad. I was required to rest and undergo minor therapy to restore the bones of my right leg.
The first week, I had to ask other people for help when walking in the house. I really didn't want to use a walking stick. Then, the second week, I learned to start school with legs that were able to walk on their own although a bit dragged.
The recovery period for my feet took a relatively short time. In about three months, my leg has recovered and I can walk normally.
It's just that I have a mild long-term effect, if in cold temperatures and body conditions are not fit, my right leg bone hurts again and I have to walk with a little drag on my right leg. This condition can last up to two or three days.
The important lesson from that point on was, I no longer wanted to ignore my parents' advice. Also, I know very well that every time I use a motorbike, I must also wear the recommended safety equipment, such as a helmet.
Thank you Hive for reading and following my story. May you continue to be happy and blessed.
Hi, I am the child of the universe, I like to read books with various genres. I was born in the city of batik but can't draw batik yet. I want to be a novelist, but my works are only short poems that are included in anthology books.
please share my content if you feel my content is good for everyone to read. Thank you. Let's be friends!
Helmet is very important. So, don't forget to wear it!
Yep, agree. I've learned a lot from my mistakes. Thanks for reminding each other, @devyswan1
Thank you so much for supporting me
Hi @titisnariyah
This is quite a scary thing to experience. I am so glad that you recovered. A head wound like that can be serious and when I read that your legs were paralyzed I feared the worst. Definitely always safer to wear a helmet!
Thank you for taking part.
I am very blessed to be able to recover and back to normal as before. I thanks the God, nature, my body, my friends, and I also thank you for reading and giving me appreciation, @andrastia
Wow this is intense. It must have been horrible for you and your family. Thank Goodness you pulled through the whole ordeal.
Yes, I am also very grateful because our families support each other and love me very much.
Thank you for stopping by and drop your comment here. Always be careful for you too, wherever you are. Happy to know you, @theawesononso
Happy to know you too!
It was an accident that did not leave serious traces at the time but it has marked you in time, after so many years you still feel discomfort because of it.
Good that you learned your lesson for once and that the accident left a nice bond between the family. @titisnariyah
Yes you are absolutely right. I will even keep this in mind because even the scar on my head won't go away. I learned a lot because of this.
Thank you so much for caring of me, @soyunasantacruz
What? That must've been so scary for you! Damn, I've been reading a lot of these accident posts and some if them are just brutal!
Phew, at least you recovered. Better Mid-long term side effect than completely immobility huh?
Take care dear!
