Exploring Nepal πŸ‡³πŸ‡΅ Weekend experience with sunrise of the Himalayas (#9)

in Weekend Experiences β€’ last year (edited)

Hello dear hive community
Wow what a weekend we had! From the early morning with the view on the Annapurna ranges to the hike to the Australian camp.

This weekend we wanted to see the sunrise with the view on the Himalayas again. So we woke up at 4:30 without breakfast and hot tea.

On the phone we downloaded the map to see where we need to reach to have one of the best views on the mountains around us. After driving, gaining hight and correcting the way a bit, the sun came faster than expected. So we just stopped next to a nice local coffee and tea shop where we did not see anyone in the first moment. We parked the motorbike and see t to the fields on the edge of a hill, where we had a very beautiful sunrise. The view was on the nearby … and many other incredible mountains.

As Steffen recorded some timelapse, Tamara found the owner of this abandoned looking tea shop and order two fresh milk tea. Wow, it was really warm and tasty!

After warming up, we enjoyed more the sun and the surrounding. Now we were thinking we could as well reach the top to the official viewpoint. And so we went. After reaching the top we realized, that we did not miss anything - the place was crowded with Nepalese tourists.
Spontaneously we continued the road and fast we found ourselves in a peaceful environment with view into local houses and people greeting us as we passed by.

It was a perfect morning with a beautiful light and we continued until we found a lonely standing temple on the top of a hill.
Quickly we went up to explore the small Hindu shrine. From here the view was even better and with the aim to reach the snowy peaks in the distance we continued the road.

On the way we had a good view on the Pokhara valley and the Reis plantations.

We drove and drove and drove. Until we stopped there was sign ABC tracking for Annapurna Track. We just wanted a taste of the popular road so we said we will take a look. Local older man carrying big load of food said we can go to the first stop without a problem. On the way we met two Nepalese guys which gave us company the full way. From the Australian camp we even went further to the next camp. There we needed to turn around since we didn’t have a permit.

In Nepal many regulations were implemented to get more money to the state and people through tourism. For every trekking you need to buy a permit, ranging to around 3000 Nepalese rupees.
For more outskirts and special places like upper Mustang, that we planned to reach with hitchhiking, you need a permit which costs 500 dollars. Sadly, this is out of our reach at the moment.

We were happy with our start and achievement. Seeing many other trekkers looking pretty unprepared regarding their sports condition, we thought to ourselves that we are super ready for this walk. Since the season is coming already to the end, we will save this trekking expedition to Annapurna and Everest base camps for the next visit.
