However, this week, I tried to be brave. I love this weekly contest because we are given a choice of concerns that we want to discuss in the contest. Like this week, I want to discuss about question number one.
Do you believe that everything happens for a reason? At first, I felt bored with the fast-paced world. Everyone seems to be rushing towards something. Maybe some are rushing to be successful like their favourite influencer, or maybe someone is rushing to be beautiful or handsome to the point of being close to a ten like their favourite character. Not to mention, those who are in a hurry to be hits and cool to the point of using all means to the point of harm.
Seeing these various events, I finally felt a little fed up and wanted to go slower. Yes, when the world is rushing towards who knows what, I want to slow down and really enjoy my age, enjoy my health, and enjoy my surroundings while still doing the right thing.
Finally, I found a podcast from MJS (Masjid Jenderal Sudirman). Perhaps when you hear mosque and podcast, people will immediately think that it is a podcast about religious preaching. However, that is not entirely correct. In fact, the Masjid Jenderal Sudirman (MJS) channel is more orientated towards different studies. One of them that I often follow is a study on philosophy hosted by Dr Fahrudin Faiz.
Although not specific, Dr Fahruddin Faiz is more concerned with stoicism and slow living. Before discovering this podcast from MJS, I was already concerned with the Stoic teachings by Zeno or Seneca's philosophy through Henry Manampiring's book, The Philosophy of the Terrace. Then I felt very blessed to find this very educative channel.
Dr.Faruddin Faiz is a lecturer in philosophy at an Islamic university in Yogyakarta. His calm voice and unassuming delivery make him a respected figure on and off campus.
In addition to stoicism, Dr Fahruddin Faiz in his study at the General Sudirman Mosque, also called or explained to us about slow living. Doing things as needed and how to handle the negative emotions that are in our minds.
He taught his pilgrims not to be too attached to something so that it would not be too painful. This was also explained by Dr Fahruddin Faiz regarding self-control.
I often listen to this podcast from MJS while writing for Hive, or while doing other household activities. I was very impressed and felt like I had a counsellor that suited me.
That's my story for this Weekend Experiece. I hope you have fun reading it.
