Many people would think that farming begins with sowing of crops. But in actual, the farming season starts much before it. It requires to give adequate time to get the field plougjed and sowing the seeds then we start with the actual sowing process.
Our farming totally depends on rainfall. So after good amount of rains in last few days, I went to my field this weekend to get it ploughed.
In our area, not every household have their own tractor. But we can hire them on hourly rate basis from other. So after good negotiation we ended up with Rs.900/hrs I.e $12 per hrs. Though the rate is quite higher as compared to last year, but blame it on rising fuel prices, that cost of everything is increasing. But poor farmer like us have no other option except to bear all expenses of own to get the cultivation done.
My piece of land has a big Boulder right in middle of the land. Which is kind of road block in farming but that portion of land remain unutilised. All effort to take them out were never succeeded.
Anyhow the big machine called tractor entered into my field sharp at 9.32 AM. It was equipped with all its tools. It has big Iron suppprting tyre around the rubber tyre to protect it from any accident. The iron plough has big tooth onto it ready to plough up the field.
Sooner, the tractor put down the big Iron jaws fitted at its back onto the field. Signaling that they are ready to roll on he entire field. Being a damp field, it take lessor effort to nail it on the soil.
One after the another, the tractor started to take a round trip on my field, slowly and steadily on the damp field, it started to tear apart my green piece of land. Enough to take out the green grass skin and the brown soil coming out easily. Tye driver looked to have good experience in ploughing as it accurately taking turn every time, making sure to plough the entire field. One round after the another and in no time, my Green pastures piece turned into a brownish wet soul land.
After spending an hour, my field is half ready for cultivation. It was ploughed enough to get the seeds sowed, after sowing the seeds and properly watering we have to wait for another few day, before the second ploughing done on the same field for sowing tye paddy.
It's all about the wait and act kind of work, where we need to keep constant vigil on fields and crops to get a good yield. Still few month to go for actual sowing of crops. But I am happy to get productive work done this weekend. Ensuring to have a healthy farming season this year.

A lot of work you put up there. Wow it's nice that we now have machines to plough the field for us nowadays unlike older times when people had to either do it themselves or use animals which was so much of a stress.
I'll love to see your next step to ploughing and planting! Hope you'll still share with us😁
Well.....that is true but still rely on animals though. Area which is not reachable through tractors are ploughed using animals.....this is my second year in farming so worth looking at the yeild....
