A weekend of Discovery: The Importance of Water in the Mountain foot

My warmest greetings to one and all. How are you? Hope you're all well and doing great today!

Anyways, I'm inspired to share my weekend full of discovery.

My parents-in-law were farmers and they had their simple living at the mountain foot or bukid in Bisaya term. Then I discover their daily chores which made me wonder.

What is it?

I discovered that they don't have enough water to supply their daily needs and so they innovate something to be useful.

They used blue barrels as storage for water. They put it under the tin roof so that when it rains the barrel will be filled up with water and this will be used to wash their clothes and used to clean their kitchen equipment. They will be happy when it rains.

They bought used containers and gallons to be used for the storage of water. Papa (father-in-law) used to fetch water 3 kilometers away from the house.

Way back then, he used to ride his motorcycle and carry one container and put it in the backseat part and tied it up. It was a little bit risky indeed.

He will bring one of these containers and tie it to the back seat of his motorcycle

Recently, he requested his son (brother-in-law) to buy a car for him to be used to fetch water so that one way could carry more gallons.

His request was granted and so they bought a pre-owned multicab that could carry 25 gallons. This is already a big help.

They used the water for cleaning, washing their clothes, watering the plants and animals, etc. Water is Life indeed.

They used mineral water for their drinking and cooking needs.

How can they conserve water?

Believe it or not, these were the real scenario. They took a bath in the basin so that the water will not be wasted and still be used in washing their clothes and the water from washing clothes can be used to clean their comfort rooms and for animals as well. What a great idea right?

When they clean their plates and other kitchen utensils they used the fetch water and then the used water will not be thrown away instead this will be put in a small container in which could be used to clean and wash their hands.

Self-Realization

"There's plenty of water in the universe without life, but nowhere is there life without water. " - Sylvia A. Earle

Water indeed is important in our life and I realized that it is very essential, especially in this place that is far away from the water area. I always remind my kids how important water is and what they should do to conserve water. Be thankful if you have an abundant supply but still, we should always properly use water, and let's not waste water.

That's all for now my friends. Thank you for sparing time to read this blog. Hope this inspires you to use the water properly. Keep safe always and God bless

The struggle of not having enough water or having that distance to the water supply is real. Lipay ron sila maam kay sigeg ulan.

Yes maam. Dako kaayo tabang sa uban ang ulan.

Yes mam dako jud

I remember those days when I am still young. We used these barrels and containers, especially when the rain comes. We always pray for the rain to come because the deep well is very far from our house. We use to walk around 1.5 km just fetching water.
Thanks to this one, I am now reminiscing about my life 23 years ago.☺️☺️
