What a beauty! Yamaha was just the king of engineering in those days. I bought an XS 1100 special after it scared the shit out of me on the test ride. It was a gorgeous bike, too.
My brother had a Virago that I put more miles on than him. I didn't have a road bike for a while and he wasn't much of a rider so I'd keep it exercised in payment for keeping it serviced :)
