A relaxing trip with Nala.

Hi everyone! 😊

Last weekend we decided to go somewhere and settle down with Nala. She's 7 now, and that's actually the perfect age for travelling; before, she was too young and too excited, it was really hard to keep her on the lead and calm her down; and after, she'd be too old, she'd get tired quickly and wouldn't be able to do long walks.

So we made the most of it and took a little trip to a town near France, in the Ardennes.
We actually chose two towns and slept in one of them.

She was really happy to see new scenery and was pulling towards the destination as if she knew where we were going. Actually there was only one way, but it's always fun to wonder what she's thinking about when she's pulling towards a destination 😆

We had a terrace in our hotel room, and that was really cool for Nala, she loved coming and going on the terrace, looking at the people and other dogs below, and smelling all the smells in the area.

And the advantage was that we had a really nice view of the city.

In fact, Nala used to be quite stressed when we came to a new place and didn't know anything, but this time she took it very well and wasn't afraid.
I don't know if it's because she's older and wiser, or maybe she felt better in this place, I don't know. In any case, I think the more you get used to taking a dog out of its comfort zone, the more comfortable it becomes. It's the same with people.

The second day we went to the other city, it was really nice.
There were lots of activities, first we went canoeing. It was really fun to see Nala on it.
It is also a good exercise for her because we tried to put her on a kayak but she was scared.
So this is a big platform that gives her comfort to go on, and maybe when we try to put her in a kayak again, she will go.

At one point we thought she would jump into the river to catch the ducks 😂 When we saw one we tried to distract her from noticing that it was swimming right next to us.

After paddling we took a little tourist train. She loved it too and as for the paddle, she wanted to jump out 😱 but this time it would be really dangerous if she did.

So we held on to her to stop her from doing that. But sometimes she would float outside with her paws. I think she saw the river in the distance. She loves to swim.

Then we take a cooler walk along the riverbank before heading into the forest.

It was really relaxing to be in the forest. It is a place where nothing matters except nature. Time seems to stand still.

She also liked the forest very much, she heard a lot of small animal sounds and it fascinated her.

We came to a beautiful vantage point at the top of the forest, from where we had an idyllic view of the city and the forest.

It was time to go. Nala started to get tired and we took the long way home :)

We came back with a lot of good vibes and great memories. I'm glad we had some wonderful times with our dog, as long as she's in good health. A dog's life passes so quickly! But the company she gives is priceless.

relaxing views you have there.. Nala enjoyed for sure..

She really enjoyed it 😊

She seems so proud possing for you in the second picture :) Just lovely!

I am glad to see you are doing fun stuff together!

Is see ok?
I remember you were a bit worried for her health in the spring.

She's really photogenic and it's almost as if she understands that she's being photographed.
I remember one time, which made me laugh a lot, a friend was taking a photo of someone sleeping in an armchair, and she saw the scene and stepped into the frame, so that in the photo you have the person sleeping and Nala in front, sitting, perfectly framed like a class photo 😂

Thank you for asking, fortunately she's doing really well. I don't know what happened at the time, but it was only temporary as she's been back to her old self for a while now :)

Haha, I can imagine her grasping the opportunity for a picture, she is adorable :)

That's great news, I am happy for both of you!
