MY WEEKEND EXPERIENCE AT THE HOSPITALS

in Weekend Experiences2 years ago

Last weekend my hubby went for an eye surgery. It was terrible, but God helped us. It's a mission hospital at Apunu Item village, Abia State. There were crowds of people who came there with different eye problems. My husband was diagonasied with cataract. A serious eyes defect that nearly made him BLIND. Cataract removed from my hubby's eyes.

We traveled on 2nd December and precisely on 3rd, he was operated upon. You may wonder why I've not posted this experience. (Put simply, I've been SO busy, feedng him, bathing him, washing clothes, preparing kids for school, giving him drugs and other household chores). Sometimes I feel weak and tired. Looking after a patient is not easy an task. Nurses are really trying hard oo. He can't do anything for at least 3 months. I managed to write this post.

Other people with same problems that came far and near for same purpose.

Environment
One of the things I like about the hospital is how NEAT AND CLEAN it is. The lawn is clean and tidy. Even the toilets and urinary is neat too.

The pictures shows the hospital and it's beautiful surroundings, well maintained and cleaned. (All pictures taken by me Happiness Ngozi Orji @pearlg

Cataract
Cataracts are the clouding of the lens of your eye, which is normally clear. Most cataracts develop slowly over time, causing symptoms such as blurry vision. Cataracts can be surgically removed through an outpatient procedure that restores vision in nearly everyone.

What is the main cause of cataracts?
Most cataracts are caused by normal changes in your eyes as you get older. When you're young, the lens in your eye is clear. Around age 40, the proteins in the lens of your eye start to break down and clump together. This clump makes a cloudy area on your lens — or a cataract.

Signs and symptoms of cataracts
Clouded, blurred or dim vision. Increasing difficulty with vision at night. Sensitivity to light and glare.

How can you stop cataracts from getting worse?
Have regular eye exams.
Watch your blood sugar if you have diabetes.
Stop smoking.
Reduce alcohol consumption.
Eat a balanced diet.
Wear sunglasses.

After the treatment
The doctor outlined some does and donts needed in other to recover fast, such as not bending down, not shaving, not going out for business, avoid sunlight, etc. He must come for regular checkup and must take his drugs often.

It's interesting to see the difference in what a hospital looks like here, as to over there.

Praise God everything went well. May he will have a quick recovery after the operation.

Indeed, God is always good all the time. It sounds amazing that your hospital there maintains its cleanliness. Well, it's good just to avoid any contamination happen.. May your husband will get well soon. Stay safe and God bless.

Thanks for your encouraging words.
