Magical Afternoon at El Retiro Park

This Saturday I wanted to take advantage of the nice weather here in Madrid and celebrate the arrival of spring by visiting El Retiro Park in Madrid.

I am a nature lover. In my country, Venezuela, I was always looking to be in contact with nature and every Sunday I went to the drizzle park to do yoga with a group and so I enjoyed the contact with nature while doing this ancestral practice.

Now that I live in Madrid, I try to maintain that contact with nature. Fortunately I have a park very close where I go for a walk some days of the week and I take the opportunity to visit the urban gardens and learn a little about what plants are planted according to the seasons.

However, the Retiro Park which I went to visit today is a bit farther from home, but it is totally worth a visit.

It is super beautiful and as we change seasons you can see the almond trees blooming or the colorful flowers, a spectacle to behold.

For me nature is very healing, just being in contact with it relaxes me, balances me and gives me well-being.

Although I usually go with my partner, this time I took the opportunity to meet a friend and chat for a while while we were drawing. She made some speed paint strokes with watercolor while I colored my Koi fish drawing.

It was a very nice time and the time passed quickly. Then we started to pack everything up, as the temperature started to drop and we started to feel a bit cold.

Even though we are in March there are still some cold moments, so I have been recommended to always wear my coat even if the weather is nice because you don't know when the temperature starts to drop.

Here in Spain there is a saying "Hasta el 40 de Mayo no te quites el Sayo" (Until May 40 do not take off your Sayo) 😅. Here they call the coat Sayo and it's better to always be warm and if it's hot you take off your coat and that's it. Forewarned is forearmed 😁.
