If you wanted to give me or someone else on hive some advice from something you learned in 2021 to carry forward into 2022, what would it be and why? How do you think it would help me or whomever you chose to hand it to, how did you learn that wisdom and would you personally carry it into the new year also? Why?

Perhaps, I feel sensitized when I observe the behavior of young people towards the elderly. They are disrespected daily by underestimating them, by not giving them a seat in the subway or any other means of transportation to that person who has struggled so much in his life.

During the vaccination against Covid-19 I had to witness how these people did not have preferential treatment, so in the sun they spent more than 5 hours in a gigantic line to be vaccinated, and although the government denies it, there is a large number of elderly people begging and rummaging through the dumpsters of markets, buildings, and restaurants to subsist.

All this is easy to observe in my country Venezuela, I sincerely do not agree with this action which implies lack of education and family and educational values.

As human beings we do not escape from the biological and psychological changes that link us to life in society.

Gradually we accumulate limitations, losses, changes and needs that lead to a decline in mental and physical capacities and an increased risk of disease.

Older adults are presented with few job opportunities, there is little inclusion in social and cultural activities.
It is important to take into account that the elderly are members of society and bearers of rights.

The government itself does not respect them by depositing in their monthly pension an amount equivalent to US$ 1.48, which is not enough to cover food and health expenses.

Old age should be dignified, free of violence, discrimination and exploitation. The elderly should have access to social programs, food, goods and services necessary for their person, and to preferential care with optimal conditions in public and private establishments that guarantee their comfort and safety.

Today, at 54 years of age, I am realizing, if my health and God allow me, that I am getting closer in age to these people who, due to life circumstances, have been mistreated and not taken into account.

In this year 2022 and always we must respect the elderly, collaborating with them, helping them, understanding them, listening to them, this will give us the possibility of being wiser people, attentive and willing to collaborate.

All of us must face old age, and try to make it dignified, we have to treat these people in the same way we would like to treat them when we reach that age. Besides, helping without interest always leaves us with an internal and moral satisfaction, and we will be seen as good people in the eyes of others.

Si quisieras darme a mí o a otra persona de la colmena algún consejo de algo que hayas aprendido en 2021 para llevarlo a 2022, ¿cuál sería y por qué? ¿Cómo crees que me ayudaría a mí o a quien decidieras dárselo, cómo aprendiste esa sabiduría y la llevarías personalmente al nuevo año también? ¿Por qué?

Tal vez, me siento sensibilizado al observar el comportamiento de personas jóvenes hacia los ancianos. Estos son irrespetados diariamente al subestimarlos, al no cederles a esa persona que tanto ha luchado en su vida un asiento en el metro o en otro medio de transporte.

Durante la vacunación contra el Covid-19 me toco presenciar como estas personas no tenían trato preferencial por lo que a pleno sol estuvieron más de 5 horas realizando una gigantesca cola para poder ser vacunados, y aunque el Gobierno lo niegue hay una gran cantidad de personas de la tercera edad pidiendo limosna y hurgando entre los basureros de mercados, edificios, y restaurantes para poder subsistir.

Todo esto es fácil de observar en mi país Venezuela, sinceramente no estoy de acuerdo con esta actuación qué implica falta de educación y valores familiares y educativos.

Como seres humanos no escapamos de los cambios biológicos y psicológicos que nos vinculan con la vida en sociedad.
Gradualmente acumulamos limitaciones, pérdidas, cambios y necesidades que conduce a un descenso en las capacidades mentales, físicas, y un incremento de riesgo de enfermedad.

Al adulto mayor se le presentan pocas oportunidades de trabajo, existe poca inclusión en las actividades sociales y culturales.

Es importante tomar en cuenta que las personas mayores son integrantes de la sociedad y portadores de derechos.
El mismo gobierno los irrespeta al depositar en su pensión mensual una cantidad equivalente a US$ 1,48, lo que no sirve de nada para costear gastos alimenticios y de salud.

La vejez debe ser digna, sin violencia, discriminación y libre de explotación. El adulto mayor debe tener acceso a programas sociales, alimentos, bienes y servicios necesarios para su persona, y a una atención preferencial con condiciones óptimas en los establecimientos públicos y privados que garanticen su comodidad y seguridad.

Hoy, a mis 54 años de vida me estoy dando cuenta, si mi salud y Dios me lo permiten, que me estoy acercando en edad a estas personas que por circunstancias de la vida han sido maltratadas y no tomadas en cuenta.

En este año 2022 y siempre hay que respetar al adulto mayor, colaborando con él, ayudándolo, comprendiéndolo, escuchándolo, así se nos brindará la posibilidad de ser personas más sabias, atentos y dispuestos a colaborar.

Todos nosotros debemos enfrentar la vejez, e intentar que la misma sea digna, tenemos que tratar a estas personas de la misma forma que nosotros quisiéramos cuando lleguemos a esa edad. Además, ayudar sin interés siempre nos deja una satisfacción interna y moral, y seremos vistos como buenas personas ante los ojos de lo demás.
