A weekend trip to “The Farm”

in Weekend Experiences2 years ago (edited)

Hi everyone, It’s been awhile since I last posted; your girl was busy.

Do you guys look forward to how your weekend will go? Or do you plan ahead for what to do on weekends? You know that working in the corporate world is so draining and stressful that we should always plan trips or anything else that will give us joy during our rest days.

Introducing to you a new gem found in Leyte in which you can chill and enjoy your weekend with nature. The place is called "The Farm at Guinciaman", This place is located in Brgy. San Miguel, Leyte; it is a 1-hour drive from the city. The place already existed in 2018, but as far as I know, it became more popular after the pandemic. Lots of people from other places came to visit Guinciaman, as it was one of the top places to visit while in Leyte.

If you want to visit the place but don’t have your own car, that's not a problem. You just have to go to the tacloban terminal at the back of Robinsons Marasbaras and look for the bus going to San Miguel, Leyte, and tell the bus operator that you are heading to Guinciaman. The bus fare is only 95 PHP, and if you're a student, it only costs 56 PHP.

Once you arrive at the terminal, you still need to ride a "halal-habal" or a motorcycle for you to be able to finally reach Guinciaman.

And because of its popularity, my friends and I decided to also visit the place on the weekend to see if it was really nice.

When we arrive at their terminal, we ride a "habal-habal" to get there, and guys, fun fact: it was my first time to ride a "habal-habal," and it was fun and a bit scary, especially since it was my first time. FYI, a habal-habal is a highly improvised two-wheeled single motorcycle that is usually ridden beyond its passenger capacity. The fare for habal-habal is 50 PHP per person, and you must have a contact for the habal-habal driver, so you can just call them if you already want to go home because there is no vehicle on the place that you can ride on once you've decided to go home. Mind you, it's very far from the town.

We were fascinated by the place because it was so wide and you could see greenery. If you want to connect with nature, chill, and be away from the noise and negativity brought by social media, this is the place to be.

The place is very instagram-worthy; the trees are tall, and you get to breathe fresh air and relax for a moment.

After we took pictures, we looked for our table and waited for our food to arrive. Their food is 10/10 and it’s very affordable, but their serving time is kind of long, though it’s worth the wait. Their lava cake is top tier, and their banana cake is 1000/10. I will definitely order this again once I go back.

They also offer outdoor activities such as ATV riding. You can rent their ATV for a farm-to-forest adventure. Their rate depends on the trail you want to explore and the number of hours. If you know Daniel Padilla, a known artist in the Philippines, he also visited the place last year with his team, and Kristina Romualdez also went there with her family.

If you’re in Leyte or anywhere in the Philippines and you want to spend time with nature and relax, this is the place to be. It can really take your sadness and worries away, even for a while.

Let’s not forget to treat ourselves once in a while, go visit beautiful places, eat different kinds of food, explore, and also take time to rest.

Yes po, even though malayo pero worth it

Never heard of "halal-habal" until now and had to google it to understand what it means but just like you said - seems both fun and scary at the same time. I wonder how scary it is when the driver takes a right or left turn when he basically makes some of the passengers get closer to the road, huh! Anyway, as scary at it seems, I'm sure it's definitely worth it and that nature rewards you at the end of the ride 😍

That's what I'm scared of when the driver turns right hahahaha i feel like I'm about to fall. But yes it was worth it when we already arrived at the farm.

Nice place to go on weekends!

Yes, indeed it is :)
