Unlimited BBQ and New Friendships : A Hostel's Saturday Night BBQ

DSC02410.JPG

One of the newest things that I experience and love is the Saturday Night BBQ at my hostel. I have never even experienced that throughout my hostel life and the fact that the place hosts this kind of event is pretty interesting to me.

Basically, anyone can eat the BBQ just by buying the drinks that are available at the hostel. You can spend as little as 15 Baht and enjoy unlimited BBQ. But they also provide cocktails that cost 100 Baht and beer for 60 Baht. I have to say that they are a very fair price considering it is an all-you-can-eat BBQ. With that event, every Saturday my dinner is always sorted and I never worry about buying it.

The hostel provides two types of meat and skewers of bell pepper and onion, mushroom, and corn. They also provide sauces and small snacks to accompany it.

Many guests participate in the event and it’s always a great time to make some new friends because you’d be sharing the space with others. That was how I got to know some people and friends at the hostel. Though sometimes, there are people who just want to be left alone which is also fine.

While grilling, we usually talk about our week, places we visited and the things that we find intriguing about Thailand.

My favourite part is always knowing interesting stories and adventures from people who have travelled to Indochina and around. We shared tips and tricks on how to get around, the best hostels, and restaurants. It’s where you interact and make you realise knowledge is power. Through these interactions, I learned a lot more about what to do and avoid. You can also have civil discussion, play games; both are the things I rarely experience back home. This is why BBQ time is something I look forward to every time.

The place that I am staying is also chill and not a party hostel. It’s quite social enough that you would eventually make a friend or two. And once again, BBQ time is the day when I can sit down, enjoy some good food and chit chat about life.

I actually hope more hostels are also like that because it's a really fun activity to do and it's what keeps the hostel life interesting. Then in the next morning, we all wake up and no more a stranger.

Unlimited BBQ! I like the sound of that! I usually try to avoid outside food as much as possible, but bbq is something I can not say no to haha! Chicken, beef, fish, seafood, even veggies - you bbq it, I will eat it LOL!

yep! I mean it's great value too, you just have to buy drinks and unlimited BBQ, why not?

Unlimited bbq sounds like a mini heaven 😍 and it's always nice meeting new people over things like this.

Can never say no to BBQ!

The unlimited BBQ makes me salivate. Yeah, I actually love when hostels do something like this kind of event on a weekend. I tried this in Kuala Lumpur when I was doing volunteer work in a hostel. A fun way to meet other travelers.

I wish Indonesian hostels do it too just cause it's really fun and brings people together. The place really traps me and I never want to leave.

I never experienced Indonesian hostels yet. But who knows, you want a hostel business? Hehe! Just giving you an idea.

Ehhh, seriously, that is one special hostel. Its like they really want all the people in there to get along with everyone. It's not bad, but for introverted like me, I'll chose to just stay at the corner while enjoying the BBQ haha. That looks a lot of fun.

I might be ambivert because I get along with people easily but also enjoy alone time. It's really nice to get to know people and learn about their culture, new language and share fun stories with each other.

Oh, how I love to experience this with my family and even with friends.
That unlimited bbq is love. Hehe

Unlimited BBQ is never a no, I enjoy good BBQ and chatting/talking to people around me.

I have to rate this hostel accommodation 10! The only BBQ sounds interesting, never heard of that kind of hostel too! It must be very fun eating together with other occupants!

hahah if there were more than 5, I would rate them 10000 for sure. It's a nice place to be and everything is interesting.

Nothing wrong with unlimited BBQ. Carry on a conversation with new company that's something kind of unheard of here. Here you have to go to a drinking establishment to accomplish that in which I don't drink.

It's a nice experience actually to be able to have unlimited BBQ and just have conversation with other guests and hear their experiences.

@macchiata Why did I see your post just at this moment when I am hungry ? These photos are torture for me!😂

It looks delicious! What a joy that at the end of the week you manage to treat yourself to a tasty barbecue.🍻

hahaha then it just means you have to eat 😁

sometimes, it's not just the food that's attractive when traveling. Rather, the stories of people who have traveled. We can learn lessons from their journey.

Yep! it's always the stories from people around us.
