Dread of Fading Memories: Holding On To What Matters!

You know when your brain's storage is full, it starts deleting stuffs. You no longer remember things, no matter how important or not they are. This could be due to stress, trauma or just age. Certain health conditions or accidents can also trigger this condition of memory loss.

Sometimes it's temporary, like forgetting where you put your keys or personal effects, other times it's more serious, and you end up losing memory of your life. This mostly arise due to aging.

Loss of memory is the most debilitating thing that can happen to anyone. It strips away your sense of self. I tell you, it's really a tough experience.

I must confess that the fear of being unable to remember things about myself - my name, birthday, partner, kids, family members, cherished experiences as I age is real. This is no joke!

I'd hate to forget connections, moments and life's lessons that shaped who I am. Not forgetting my first big accomplishment - writing my first insurance business on my first day at work, personal achievements like graduating from college amidst financial struggles, academic hurdles, including milestones achieved with loved ones.

Being unable to remember all these would feel like losing parts of my self. In fact, it'd feel like I'm existing instead of living. That's disorienting.

I'd hate to imagine the huge impact this twist in my life would have on family and loved ones. It'd make them feel like they're losing the person they've known all their lives. And the emotional strain - no doubt they might feel helpless or sad seeing me that way. Unfortunately, this can put a strain on the relationships and friendships we've formed. This is so much to handle.

I've witnessed a once happy family shattered by dementia's cruel grip. The family's world crumbled when their father was diagnosed with dementia. Years of care and equally watching her partner fade took a toll on his wife, who struggled to cope with the whole situation. Eventually he passed away. The emotional strain was overwhelming, and tragically, she too succumbed to it's weight, suffering memory loss before passing away too a year after. It was a big blow to the family. A tough one.

I'm sending love, hug of light and strength to families navigating this tough journey. I hope you find resilience and moments of peace amidst the challenges....

Peace.
