During May 2019, we travelled to Bulgaria as a group from the Indian Fragrance and Flavors Association on a study tour. We had 15 delegates. And I'm posting photos of lavender distillation facilities there as well. They have greater mechanisation and less human labour, lowering costs. As you can see, the trolleys transporting biomass are immediately fed with steam and oil gathered above. Total oil distillation takes 4 hours. Separate slices are kept apart. Their composition is then examined and marketed as a result. Greater lavandulyl acetate cuts command higher pricing. Oil yields range from 50 to 70 kg per acre. The cost of land ranges from 3 to 6 lakhs per acre. They also receive EU agriculture subsidies.
