Hello everyone, I'm sorry I haven't been very involved on here lately. My best friend has been keeping me more occupied than usual. A couple months ago, she stopped taking her mid-day nap. At first, I was in denial of this. I would still attempt to get her to nap, but it would end with disappointment. I've lowered my nap expectation and accepted the reality of only getting a break at the end of the day after she goes to sleep. By then, my energy is usually depleted and my brain power is at its lowest. Lately, in the evening, I sit there with a glass of wine, while staring at the computer screen. I think about all of the things I want to work on; new book, NFT collection, blogging, social media content. I become overwhelmed, and do absolutely nothing.

My best friend sits quietly watching YouTube on my phone as I write this, allowing me to tell you a little bit about her. We met at the hospital in Maryland. I knew her name before I met her, since I'm the one who picked it out. She has called the shots since day one. I'm the parent, but if you saw the way things operate around here, you'd see who is really in charge. She's a picky eater, but I finally convinced her to eat apples. The apples must be cut into thin sticks. As she sits in her favorite chair with her Kindle, I try to place a small bowl of sliced apples next to her, hoping she'll eat them. She says, "Nnnno," as she firmly sticks out her hand, forcing the bowl away. I set the bowl on the counter and bring her just one apple stick. She takes it and starts eating it. As I'm cooking dinner, I hear her say, "Appooo," in a curt, demanding manner (she can't pronounce the "l" sound yet.) I grab another thin apple slice and walk it over to her. This happens about ten times in a row as I'm preparing dinner. It's the little moments like this that are the best, because it shows our humorous relationship dynamic. I'm basically my best friend's servant, but I'm just thankful she's finally eating apple. Despite the tedious nature of our friendship, she's still the apple of my eye.
