We used to love catching baskets of crayfish as kids. We used to catch them by sight fishing, tying a piece of bacon onto a string, waiting for them to grab it, then pulling them out. Ours here were never big enough to actually be able to have a claw to eat though. Wow, those are like little lobsters! I'm drooling over here!
This sounds fun, but time consuming - did you eat them?
The ones in Finland are a bit smaller than the imported ones, but they are tasty :)
Oh yes, the tails on ours (freshwater creeks and lakes) were about the size of your thumb (if lucky) but oh so tasty. Where I grew up, we called them "crawdads". We would just toss the tails into a pan with butter, give them a quick heat up and yum!

This sounds like something I would enjoy!!
