We are gonna have to go waaaaay back to find my best day at the beach.
Really it was a whole 3 day 4th of July weekend in Erie Pennsyl-Tucky. Yes that Erie. The one you have seen in the endless loop on all the weather channels this last week. 55+ inches of lake effect snow in just a short 48 hours. This was what it was like growing up in the great white north. Go to sleep with a foot of snow and wake up with 3 more. (foto)
That is also the reason I now live in paradise 1100 miles south of that place. But while growing up on the Lake called Erie. We had a short 3 month window of great weather. This is what I am here today to tell you about.
Sons of Beaches
And this was our anthem With lyrics like this, we were living loud and proud...
"I can see those sons of beaches out there living it up, in the surf and the sand, man that life ain't so tough... And I'm feelin' fine it's 99 in the shade" - Bon Jovi
I gotta shout out right now to my bro @galenkp and his army of Hivonians that make this #weekend-engagement possible every week. An army of one. I could not wait till the end of this post cuz I am having way to much fuk in fun with this one. Some great memories crashing like tidal waves on the beaches in my mind right now.
Here are a few of those memories in fotos. Piss poor quality I know. But these were taken on a cheap little Kodak 120. Paper pics scanned into digital. I may take on a project someday to digitally enhance them in this new age of a.i. But rest assured Hive person. These memories are High Def in my mind when I
L👀k at these fotos.
As I was writing this the 99 in the Shade anthem from earlier had played itself out and moved on to a song that not only gives me a lump in my throat. When I hear it...
I Go Back
That song has a part in it that says...
"And I go back to the loss of a real good friend and the sixteen summers I spent with him, now only the good die young stops me in my tracks... I go back" - Kenny Chesney
That friend of mine that stops me in my track is in these next two pictures. R.I.P my old friend John "gob" Gebler.
Willy & John July 2003
That summer we spent many weekends out on the lake. They all blur together in my mind. We had the boats for 5 years. But that first summer of 1993 with them was the best. We watched the July 4th fireworks from out on the lake over that little city of Erie's skyline. 31 years ago. Seems like last year.
I hope you did not get any sand in the crack of your ass hangin' it all out on the beach with ol' KrazzyTrukker?
Just remember to bring your sun tan lotion next time and...
It’s great that you’ve got photos of all these things still dude. I don’t have shit from my childhood lol thankfully some photos from my old phones and stuff.
It’s sad that most of the young people are overweight as fuck these days. There wasn’t a heavy person in those photos. Damn food and shit now!
Hey I resemble that Remark.!!
Lmao... I would be 400# if i did not have the will power I do. I am about 50 lbs overweight. Back then I was slim and trim in really good shape. 150 lbs and very low body weight. I lifted weights three nights a week and did all the protein drink stuff.
Hard to believe it has been 30+ years ago. I could write in detail about some of the crazy shit we did back then. I think the statute of limitations have passed. 😳Nobody died so it is all good. @galenkp has a way of bringing me out of my introvert shell. But I will never be a good writer. I am comfortable with being slangy and rough around the edges.
Coming out of your shell like a fucken hermit crab huh?
I dream of a day where I never have to leave my yard.
Got a call yesterday from my girl @ Landstar that I used to haul the Food Lion cooler layover loads with.
It seems the cheaper carrier they dropped us for back in June has been a disaster for the shipper Kysor Waren and they are putting us back on it.
Great News.
There's some good news. I've heard stuff like that before, they go for the cheaper and then realise that group can't handle the transport and have to go back; typical. The problem is the gap in between when the original carrier is left without the work and scrambling.
I am feeling pretty scrambled.
We went from a $5k revenue a week with backhaul $3k without. To an avr. the last 6 months of around $1.5/2k a month.
Yep, that's a big difference. It's a credit to you on how you've held it all together though.
I was hoping you'd do something like this, your back in time posts are always i teresting. ✅
