A Day Of Adventure and Friendship: Fishing, Cooking and Creating Memories

It's better to get and prepare the food for your food trip with your friends than to buy it in the market as food prices nowadays are so expensive. You will go on adventures and explore new places and experiencing with good company can indeed be a lot of fun and excitement.

(Some of the photos here are from my brother and he send them to me)

One hot afternoon, my partner and my brother along with his friends decided to go to Anhawan to catch tilapia. They said that the tilapia there live in the river and nobody owns it, so it's okay to get some tilapia there. I was wondering if tilapia really live in the river or if they will get some on a fishpond.

I ask them if I can join there adventure since I'm so curious of seeing tilapia on the river. But they just told me to stay home and wait for them because the heat from the sun is unbearable and my blood pressure my rise and they worried about my safety.

They ride on a motorcycle and travel there since Anhawan is a little bit far from our place if we walk by our feet and the sun is raging with anger at that hour, it was almost 12 in the afternoon.

When they reached Anhawan, they had to walk for a little more to get to the river where the tilapia lived because the motorcycle could no longer pass through. So they leave their service beside the rocky road.

They start now walking under the extreme heat of the sun not minding the hot weather and just visualizing the tilapia they might catch and cook.

After an hour of walking under the extreme heat, they came by a little hut along the way, they sought shade and rested for awhile and continued their journey after minutes of rest.

When they reached the said river , there were kids who brought a mosquito net which they would use as a fish net to catch tilapia. My brother told me that they went there empty handed and had no fish nets to cash a fish. They were glad that they met this kids and negotiated with them that they would help catc tilapia and share the half after they finished fishing in the river.

The children take off their clothes and just remain their underwear so that it will not get soak in the water and they will not get scolded by their parents. They will not drown in this river since the water is too shallow.

The river is not flowing anymore and it's almost dried up.

They help each other catch tilapia and take turns of using the mosquito net.

Beside the river , some of the farmers who have some animals make this watering holes inorder for their animals to have a drink. This place has a scarce source of water especially in our weather nowadays. I just imagine how resourceful the farmers to adapt in these challenging times and still care for the well being of their animals.

After ours of fishing they got 20 pieces of tilapia and divided them into two, 10 for the kids , who are the owners of the mosquito net, and 10 for my husband and his company. I was just wondering how the fish still survive when the water is too shallow and the river is not flowing anymore. There are no plants along the water and it's a bit muddy in color. It gives me an idea, that they have their way of survival, just as humans do. But we humans get them for food as our way of survival too, it's part of life anyway, even if we feel pity for them. That is their role in this planet, to be consumed. My husband and his company went home straight and cleaned the tilapia and fried it in the frying pan.

My brother's friend gave him a fresh pig head. So they decided to cook it since the tilapia is way too few for many people. My husband cleaned and chopped it.

My brother is setting the fire and starting to boil the water in a big pot.

Spring onions and cabbage is our only condiments in this recipe, stewed pig head (nilat-ang ulo sa baboy)

When the water boils in the pot they help in putting all the ingredients inside.

After half an hour of waiting for the meat to soften under the middle heat, the stewed pig head is finally cooked and ready to be serve.

We set up the table and put all the rice on the leaves of the banana, but this time we are going to use spoons because the soup is very hot and we cannot eat it barehanded unless it is already cold. But this kind of food is better to consume when it is hot.

We dove into our food but I forgot to take pictures because I'm really hungry.

Full and satisfied, but every meetings will not end without an alcoholic drink on the side.

And a little videoke to make the most of the day.

Indeed they sure had a great day from getting the food and putting it on the table where everybody went home full and satisfied. There is no problem anyway if you have money and buy straight from the market ,excluding yourself in a tiresome journey and getting food just to put on the table. But you will miss the camaraderie and simple joy of exploration our neighborhood, where friendship where forged and the creations of memories.

I will end my blog here and see you on my next blog. Have a nice day ahead everyone.
