Where art meets nature

Friends of @werkendEsperiences, On this Sunday morning I decided to go hiking through this community where I have seen incredible experiences. I went to a nearby forest whose surroundings stand out for palm trees, casuarinas, and immense trees a kilometer from the widow.

It is a very rarely visited area because Cubans do not normally hike in forests, therefore we miss out on the benefits of contacting nature. The morning is cold, for those in the tropics 28⁰ is pleasant. A few meters before I felt a drop in temperature due to the fog.

The sun was beginning to rise to complement a beautiful spectacle. But this place called Forest for Peace has a special attraction, because marble sculptures by sculptors from all over the country coexist here. Art is integrated with nature in various ways, it is a reason for representation, while materials used in the sculptures are taken from the natural environment.

The environment of the park is favorable, it is located in the roundabout area towards the easternmost region.
Las Tunas is the owner of countless sculptural pieces in marble, metal, wood, ceramic, ferrocement; not only in squares, parks or institutions, also in peripheral areas, which is why it is called Capital of Cuban sculpture

The "Forest for Peace" is an attractive and interesting space for the sculptures that inhabit the natural environment, fruits of the Sculpture Meeting held in 2005. On one occasion I interviewed the Architect Lilian González Rodríguez, who gave the idea of the location, she told me that the sculptural group had no preconceived design. They started from a sketch or lines of desire, whose conception was that of a park or meadow in permanent growth, where the pieces would be placed and trees would be planted; a symbolism of cultivating, caring.

The context of the Forest with corridors suggests the practice of hiking, the earth under our feet is always powerful, we are its occasional inhabitants who must take the cleanest energies from it and give them back. Las Tunas has natural spaces of unparalleled beauty.
