Wait, you might be thinking. There's no beef on that plate? Correct. its in the pan, in the photograph, and now, well, its in my belly. The stuff you see on the plate is some flatbread fried in the beef tallow of the pan.
Does that make you angry? it doesn't make me angry, but it makes me rather full and satiated. Perhaps I'll need to go shit myself in public and dispose of my underwear in a bin, while waddling around.
If you had to deal with that as a cleaner or on janitorial duty, would that make you angry?
Evidence that I need to clean my induction cooktop
Owing to a particularly (unnecessarily sensitive) public holiday here on Monday, (which angers me for many reasons, particularly because ... we waste so much time arguing for the sake of political correctness instead of just... making everyone's life better) .... and my regular Friday day off, the weekend began early for me.
My freezer was running low on beef, and I decided to make a day-trip to go visit a friend who became recently, and uncontrollably employed. It's okay though, he got a decent sum of money for that. He took me to the local butcher he uses, and I spent a lot of money.
This steak looks like a shit, but it didn't taste that way.
This is a flank cut of beef. It is seared in tallow, and cooked medium rare. In my mouth, (and my eyes) (and my opinion) it is the best part of a cow to eat. A fairly lean cut.
It, among the other bits of meat that I purchased today, will be delicious. It cost around $500 to fill a small portion of my freezer, but this is the finest, grass-feediest beef I am able to so far find in Adelaide. Overall, it was about $13.50 / steak, and half that per serving, so pretty decent value. I'm not mad about spending money to survive.
As I return to the gym more and more (it is a priority now, on an ongoing basis) - I am focusing on well, overdosing on protein to ensure that I can maintain a rigorous program of weight lifting and building strength.
I will need to load the freezer up with some fish and chicken soon as well, but today it was the day for beef.
Beef turns on my tastebuds like you wouldn't believe.
However, given that it is Australia Day this coming weekend, there's an annual tradition that every Australian should involve themselves in. And that's watching the National Lamb Retailer's annual advertisement which celebrates the Australian spirit.
This year, it is called "The Comments Section", and you can watch it on YouTube. May your weekend be glorious, and full of beef. Not arguing, the tasty kind. Reject lamb, return to cow.
This year's ad takes way too long to get to the point, which angers me immensely. My weekend is consequently ruined.
I'll be spending it avoiding lamb, going to the Gym, finishing painting the exterior of my house, and hanging out with a good friend. Then, I'll be back to work once more, and resume suffering.
Perhaps it will be alright after all.
That steak looks incredible! I'm a big fan of a good steak too, and cooking it in its own tallow sounds like a real treat. I can definitely see why you're so satisfied.
I get where you're coming from with the public holiday thing. Sometimes it feels like we spend more time arguing about holidays than actually enjoying them.
And I agree, the National Lamb Retailer's ad can be a bit much sometimes. I'm glad you're focusing on your own priorities this weekend, like hitting the gym and spending time with friends.
That's a great goal - focusing on building strength and prioritizing your health. It's inspiring!
Hope you have a fantastic weekend!
I'm not looking forward to brushing my teeth before bed. The steak taste will go away forever, until i eat my next one.
Some years, those ads are really fantastic and entertaining, but this year's, particularly didn't make the mark.
So much wasted human potential arguing in comment sections. We should focus on improving each other and simply correcting one another politely when we have evidence that someone's viewpoint is wrong, and not view it as a personal attack.
I plan on having a super fantastic weekend. I hope yours is a good one!
Hahaha, tooth fairy will come soon.
If he / she / they / it, or whatever pronoun the toothfairy goes by comes knocking on my door, I'll share my security camera footage :D
That's a big story. Toothfairy just got caught in a camera.
This gives me pause for inspiration for a themed photoshoot. A demented tooth fairy stealing children's teeth from their mouths. Armed with pliers and gauze.
Ah it's been a minute. So glad to read you again. And yeah, I've learnt not to judge a
steakbook by itscolourcover. Hope you have a most beautiful weekend!✨The steaks have amazing colour. The flank smells a tiny little bit like liver, which not a lot of people like, but its always such a juicy and tender piece of meat.
The meat looks delicious, nothing like having enough food for the holiday and long weekend.
Greetings!
Oh, its not for the holiday, the food, its just to make sure that my freezer is happy.
