It looks delicious. I had a little chuckle at your expense that they only left you a tiny piece! Sorry. I can imagine how irritating that would be! I hope your wife bakes you a new one soon. I have never seen baking on a stovetop like that. It is very interesting. Is that a common method in India or is it something special your wife does?

This was the way decades back, when oven was not affordable for us. My mom used to make cake this way, we tried to reinvent and we felt the taste this way is better than oven.

That's interesting. My grandmother was an amazing cook, but she did most of her cooking on a stove that was more primitive than what most people use when they go camping now. It's funny how new things can be convenient, but not always better.

True, the old is gold - they invented most of the things from observation, over a long period of time.
