The modern society is doing a lot of things wrongly and unfortunately, we aren't seeing these things as wrong. I expect the modern society to handle things better than our forefathers since we are learned and have resources to set things right but it seems our forefathers did better than us.
These problems with the modern society have reached a height where it is tearing the world apart and they have combined to bring havoc to the world we live in today. Humans are responsible for all of these things and I am glad we are bearing the consequences as well but what bothers me is that despite the negative effect of these things, we aren't willing to take a break to look at these issues and create a solution.
I know talking about a solution is a silly idea because it's not about one person changing society for everyone, it is about everyone in the society being willing to do what's right which is impossible because a pinch of unity doesn't exist among us.
We always have something silly to disagree about, things like religion, culture, skin color, and others have successfully made us hate one another. With these things, there won't be a positive difference in the society a hundred years from now.
There are a lot of things I dislike about today's society and I am part of it. I am not perfect or exempted from these things but I always try to remind myself that these things won't help the human race get better so the reminder many times helps me not to do some of these things I am about to discuss.
- The modern society every man for himself rules.
The society has become the kind where every man only cares about himself, we don't bother about others or put them into consideration as long as the situation we are in favors us.
It's funny how we curse politicians for being greedy and selfish whereas we exhibit these habits as well. We might think that we are not greedy or selfish but not putting a little effort into the well-being of the people around us leaves us in the same situation as our politicians.
Some people prefer to destroy things that are still useful to others just because they don't want to share some will rather trash their leftovers instead of offering them to the less privilege so how are we different from the politicians?
I have heard someone say that he struggled to be successful and what happens to people around him doesn't concern him because they don't help him make the money he has today.
It will surprise you to know how people are treating others just because they care only about themselves and these habits will only destroy the world further.
Until we see the need to treat everyone like ourselves, the society will remain what it is.
- The modern society wants change but we are not ready for it.
With the way things are going in the society, a lot of us want change but we will never make the sacrifice for change.
Recently, a thief was chased into the neighborhood and the security officers couldn't find him. They asked around for any possible witnesses who might have seen when he ran into the neighborhood.
A man pointed into the house the thief ran into, he described what he saw and even mentioned the color of the cloth the person wore.
The security officers went to the house and it turned out to be that the guy is the son of the owner of the house he ran into. The guy was taken away and his father started a war against the man who told the security where the boy ran into, he said why can't the man just keep shut and till today, they are enemies.
We want a crime free world but we are not ready with exposing the one happening right under our noses. It is not only about crime and there are a lot of things like pollution, corruption, and others.
For instance, we are complaining about climate change but we still go on disposing of our waste improperly. We complain about poor economy but we choose the wrong people to govern us just because we have been bribed.
All these things will never bring change but we keep indulging in those acts. For the change we want, we must be ready to make the sacrifice even though it might not be very favorable for us.
- The modern society today doesn't see some things as a big deal until we become victims.
The issue of rape didn't start today and it has gotten worse because many people refuse to show their concern whenever such a case happens and we take it seriously only when it happens to someone we are connected to.
The issue of police brutality reached a new height in Nigeria and a lot of people came together to put an end to it. This thing didn't start today, we have ignored victims in the past and it encouraged the police to abuse the people more. We could have rebuked them earlier but we waited until more and more people became victims.
Stopping it at that point required bloodshed and a lot of lives were lost.
A lot of terrible things happening in the world today could have been curbed but not taking them seriously because they didn't happen to us has led us to where we are today. I don't believe it is late to still stop other things we find appropriate in the society now because the longer we are silent about it, the tougher it becomes to put an end to it.
If we can do away with these things I find wrong with the society, I believe that there will be a great change in the society.
There will huge growth and development, we will wish that we have put away these habits a long time ago. Like I said earlier that it will be a tough thing to achieve but with one step at a time, we will arrive there someday.

The human being has created great problems on the planet. Things similar to the ones you mention happen in my country, the authorities also mistreat people. Hopefully at some point we can change things. Thanks for your post dear @george-dee . A big hug from Maracay.

In this modern society, we all want change but we don't want to take the first step and wait to see someone else take the first step. It seems like the story named "Who will bell the Cat" we read in childhood. We always think about our own benefit even if it's bringing bad impact on others. It's not a concern for us until it's beneficial for our own and it seems humanity is disappearing with time.
Does humanity still exist? I doubt so because thing are pretty bad and if not that there are some people who still value it to do go things, I wonder what the world will look like now.
Humanity isn't fully disappeared till now. Because of few people we can say humanity still exist.
I agree with all your ideas, especially your examples about politicians ones. I didn't mean to say that it's considerable that a politician needs to be greedy. But, if you want to change for your country, you must inhibit good traits first. I also hate this trait of my fellow citizens where they wish to attain a developed country, but they always inhibit crab mentality, lol
The politicians aren't helping matters truly but they aren't the only one responsible for the havoc happening in the world today.
To make the world whole again, we need more than the politicians to make the difference now.
I don't know why I smell Nigeria in everything here. I don't see a line that isn't true about us.
The sad truth about our human nature is that we a terribly bias. It takes some higher level of understanding to do better; fair, kind, and selfless.
The solution? Well, I don't know what it may be. But I believe some part of the solution is playing my part by doing well.
Those with that understanding are very few compared to those without it and somehow, they are influencing more people to lose the understanding that they got.
It is really annoying and a real Nigeria will be able to trace these things to what's happening in the country at the moment.
The society we live in now adays is really messed up(sorry for the language). Everyone is just acting one type of way and they don't care about their immediate neighbour. They scream for change and go ahead to against the change. It's gets worse each time.
A lot of things are missing in the world and all can be traced back to lack of love, no wonder the bible emphasized on that a lot.
The Bible is a book of wisdom afterall..
