Choosing to do nothing is a choice and choosing to do something is an opportunity, or so I believe.
This week, I chose to make the topics a little more challenging with the intention of getting whoever chooses to participate thinking well outside their comfort zone. Hmm... I'm torn between option 2 and 4. They seem quite challenging to me.
Honestly, I can't even imagine having a valid reason for option 2. Unless perhaps, there was this force that made saving one twin much easier than the other. Or unless the other twin was a brat or something like that. But if neither was the case then...it will probably be the hardest decision of my life.

I thought long and hard (about 3 minutes) about these topics.
I wanted to challenge people and to make them think in different directions. I'm really hoping someone takes on the save the child topic but I feel no one will. Maybe, I'll do it on Sunday myself; set the example.

I have two friends who are literally writing code for Option 2. The are working for 2 different autonomous car makers, but they have been tasked (as part of a larger team) with programming the car some split second decisions. One example I was given is ... If the car has to choose between hitting an adult or a child (based on body size) what will it do.
This led to a lot of debate ... particularly on, how much information will the car be able to determine accurately before having to choose etc etc. One of the two car makers is contemplating the idea of allowing the user to go through and choose for themselves after purchase.
This is interesting and is exactly the sort of thought-process I wanted to promote with this question. Taking the easy option of saying both children isn't always an option in real life...but people like to delude themselves into thinking that they are in control of life and the things it throws up. To some degree yes, but also no.

I don't care if you downvote me, it doesn't bother me in the slightest bit. But...I looked at several of your other, randomly cast, downvotes on smaller accounts and felt they were not acceptable and that those accounts didn't deserve them. So, I downvoted you to get your attention. Clearly it worked. I'll do it again too, if I have to.
So...When you cast downvotes, rather than doing so on the accounts that don't deserve it (like those small accounts you downvoted recently) find those that do, like those raping the reward pool with copy/pasted and recycled posts, plagiarism, spam, image theft and so on.
Oh this is fun! A good way to start the weekend by thinking hard! Option 3 might be interesting, I have always wondered what it would be like....
