[WE100] Weekend-Engagement Friday blog prompts

WE Friday image.png

Energy and persistence conquer all things.

- Benjamin Franklin -

I began the #weekend-engagement concept in May 2020 to inspire engagement over the weekend. I set a topic, asked people to reply in the comments and rewarded some of the interesting or amusing comments with a little Hive. Very quickly the comments section began to fill up, some receiving 1000+ comments.

I wanted to get people engaging, meeting new people and building relationships; I believe that through engagement and relationships a person can build their account rapidly and the user will have a better chance at longevity and enjoyment; I built mine that way.

Reading someone's blog and commenting with validity and relevance is a powerful method of attracting them to one's own and, if there's something interesting and engaging to see there, they're likely to stay, read and comment in turn. It makes sense to me and seems a better way of building an account than creating low-quality content and hoping for a vote from a whale account; it may work here and there but for longevity it's not viable.

Below are a few of the original pre-current-version #weekend-engagement topic weeks I've selected to share if you're interested in taking a look. you'll have to click the load comments button in each post if you want to load them as there are a lot:

Week 63

Week 60

Week 51

Week 04

Week 42

The format changed into a blog prompt format a while ago. The comment-threads were getting out of control and difficult to follow with so many comments and I thought it would help promote the Hive blockchain to have more great posts around rather than the comment threads. I've been coming up with blog prompts for people to select from and over the last months have noticed the quality of the blogs has been on the rise. It's been difficult to select blogs of the week to reward as they are mostly all good, but that's good for the Hive blockchain right? Good content.

If you're looking for something to write about over the weekend take a look below for the post topic prompts and if you feel like doing a post use my community, THE WEEKEND. Follow the rules below.

Guidelines you must follow to be eligible for prizes

✅ Use #weekend-engagement as the first tag of your post
✅ Post in THE WEEKEND community (do not cross-post)
✅ Follow the rules of the community
✅ Contest closes 07:30 UTC Monday 9th May (google it)
✅ Post only in ENGLISH (no multi-lingual posts)
❌ Do your own work, don't plagiarise and link-credit photos

💯 Engagement on Hive

What does engagement on Hive mean to you and how do you do it? What methods or strategies have you used and what results have you had? Do you feel it has been helpful to build your account, have you enjoyed it or do you feel you'd rather not have to do it?

💯 Doing it differently

What would you do differently if you could start your Hive account from scratch today? What changes would you make to how you present yourself, the actions and activities you have undertaken and methods and processes you've employed. Given that change, what do you feel your account would look like in 100 weeks from today?

💯Going back to the start

If you could go back and give yourself some advice before starting on Hive what would it be and why?

💯 500 words on my #weekend-engagement concept

In 500 words or less explain what you like, or don't like, about the #weekend-engagement blog prompts concept I have devised and present each week.

Damn 100!

Congrats!

4 more weeks to the 2 year mark - perhaps @abh12345 can run some numbers?

Thanks...airs been a while huh? If only I could actually measure how long...Oh hang on...I can. 100 weeks. Lol.

Asher did some numbers a while back for me, on comments, and it was massive. I chose not to publish them here as it seemed a little boastful.

Wow!! Congrats to you and your curating team! This is truly a wonderful accomplishment and this weekend initiative you started has been such a success and inspiration to many of us.

There are just times we don’t have anything in mind to write about, especially during the weekend. These prompts help spark interests and even ignite a desire to challenge oneself. Keep up the great work you’re doing! Also to @andrastia whom I’ve gotten to know a little better these past couple of months, keep up the great work with your support and commenting. I see you everywhere in the comment sections and that’s very commendable.

I’m definitely going to try to make some time to participate this week. If anyone knows me they know I’m all about engagement so I gotta add my cents in about it lol.

Yay!! 😃🥳🤩

Hi @crosheille

I agree with you that it's a commendable milestone to hit 100 weeks running, sometimes I wonder how Galen does it plus so many other things here and off Hive. Definitely sets a great example for us all.

Thanks for the kind words and vote of confidence, I am enjoying it immensely - there are so many interesting and inspiring people to talk with and I too am glad that you & I got talking more in the last while through Needlework Monday.

I'm looking forward to your post. Have a fantastic day/night 🌼

Yes, it truly does set an example!

I’m so glad we chat more through needlework too. I’ve enjoyed reading your posts and hearing stories about your daughter’s love for fashion. ☺️

Thank you, have a wonderful weekend ~ 💖

Thank you.

Yeah, @andrastia does a great job all round huh? She puts a lot of effort in with commenting and posts well also.

Absolutely ;)

Yes, she really does. I’ve enjoyed reading her needlework posts.

I absolutely love this new format because checking the old format, I'm sure with those comments, that would be a lot of work to do hahaha. This new format promotes Hive and more people get to have engagements too. Love it.

Well done, sir.

The old format was a lot of work to keep up with which was one of the reasons I adjusted the format. Also, I thought by making it a posting format, the community as a whole would benefit through additional posts and the individual posters through rewards.

I think it works well although the only true measure of its success is whether people get involved each week and whether they enjoy it or not I suppose.

I like this new format and it's good for everyone involved too while also a blessing to Hive since we have those who still share it.

There are many more people that would be getting involved because this community is growing like wild fire which is what we want to see. All thanks to you for giving your best to us all, always.

This format makes people have to read other people's work and I think is a better way to build more solid relationships. The comment thread in the old format was very long and convoluted at times so not as good for relationship building.

I absolutely agree with you sir. This is way better and we are enjoying this format while benefitting hugely from it too.

Congratulations! This is like what...the golden birthday?😆
You do a great job!

Thank you.

Happy 100th! And what a way to celebrate it with these topics. Brilliant as always!

Thank you, it's been a lot of work, but has been enjoyable.

Pleasure :) And many more enjoyable weeks to come.

😊

This is great!!!!! Congrats!!! Waitong for 1000 more!

1000? Ok, that sounds like a good goal...I'll start with 1 more next week and work towards it. 😊

🎉 Galen & #TheWEEKEND community, Congratulations!🎉

Yay! It's been a long time coming...100 weeks long in fact. 🤪

Yeah, there have been so many changes and growth :)

Simply awesome Galen, you pulled this one out of the top drawer. A fantastic wee history and I shall be going to read some of the past links you included.

Settle in with snacks and a coffee mate, some of these comment threads are long. 😁

Thanks for your kind words and support.

Had to buy more biscuits the comments were so long !

Lol...It was an interesting time back when I did it that way. Loads of snacks required.

oh yeah I can imagine, many snacks required, would have made me a right fat bastard🤣🤣🤣

hello what a great topic this week, last week I could not participate, I hope I can in this one, congratulations for your growth and originality, greetings.

Thanks, it's taken some effort but I've also gained a lot of enjoyment.

This calls for a celebration, I’m happy to take part in the two years anniversary of #theweekend Community, I have always looked forward to this weekend’s prompt since I started making post on here and here they’re lined up 🤩

Congrats 🎈🥂🍾 #theweekend

Well, the two year anniversary will be on week 104 so I look forward to your participation. This week it's the 100 week milestone and I look forward to seeing some posts relating to the concept and hive. Maybe you'll join in too.

Oh yeah I will make a post on my preferred topic for sure and thanks for the opportunity 🙌🙌

Yes... Finally! I've been waiting for the perfect opportunity to share my disruptive constructive criticisms regarding the entire #weekend-engagement initiative.

But alas, I am torn between the first and last options. So, oh dearest oracle, will it be possible for me to write for all of them or at least, for the two?

P.S: I broke my phone opening all those 1389 comments.

In recompense for you breaking your phone I'll permit you to write on all of the prompts, or any combination of them you choose.

Ah... Thank you, thank you oh wise and knuckleheaded oracle. I'll do my best.

:) Don't expect this oracle thing to stop anytime soon btw

The Oracle doesn't mind being called the Oracle. The oracle consulted the oracle and the Oracle said being called the Oracle when one is indeed the Oracle is acceptable.

Okay... I'm a little confused now😂

The oracle consulted the Oracle? Does that man there are two oracles?

Only one Oracle...Multiple personalities.

Congratulations on the 100th Weekend Engagement Blog Prompt, what an achievement that it's been going just shy of 2 years.

I tip my hat to you for keeping up with all the comments on the previous format, going through those old ones made me chuckle quite a bit.

Thanks Andy, it's been enjoyable in the main, otherwise ai'd have stopped I guess. People have come and gone, some stayed around and now, in week one hundred, a few will engage which makes me happy.

I don't know know what value it has for the community, but I look forward to reading people's responses and get some enjoyment, so I guess that's what matters.

Thanks for commenting.

Wuaoo yes you are a person of commitment, that is a tremendous quality, being constant has cost me hahaha worth the redundancy to achieve, of the biggest flaws I have is inconstancy, follow a routine that costs me a lot, I have worked on it of course and every day I become a person of commitment but change 40 and so many years of bad habit is not so easy.

I myself wanted to make my own commitment, I only made it to week 40, almost a year, but I could not continue, it was too much work for me to create the contest ideas, verify the answers and get the winners, which by the way I rewarded with the total monetization of the publication, this took me time to generate other publications and earn income.

This way I could not continue and I had to leave my contest, months later still the hivers ask me when I start again.

I have to participate this end, because I want to answer many of your questions, but it will be my Sunday running as tomorrow I will go to a small hive meetup.

Greetings dear @galenkp may it be 1000 more weeks.

Hey there, thanks for your kind comments, and my apology for my late reply.

It's a lot of work to run a community properly and to present concepts each week, read the posts, follow up with comments and then wrap it up the next week - I'm constantly thinking about the #weekend-engagement concept, how to improve, give people better opportunities and generally support the Hive community. It takes a lot of time.

Anyway, thanks for your comment, I really appreciate it.

Hello!
I would really like to write more than one post about this but I don't think I have the time, so I will have to pick one.
I love writing posts for weekend engagements, but when I started being in the community you still used the old format and I confess I loved it. It was fun to read all the comments on the same topic in one post and the conversations that ensued.
Happy weekend!

I liked the old format too, it was just so much work and I had many people contact me and tell me they got lost in the comments, that it was too difficult to follow, due to the volume. Some disappeared altogether and that's another reason I changed the format, to retain people, not push them away.

Of course, I understand, more and more people were joining and there were too many comments. For you it was unmanageable. And yes, of course, getting to the post on Sunday for example made it impossible to go over everyone's comments.

Yes, indeed. It's more manageable these days.

Energy and persistence conquer all things.

Not when you're as moldy and corroded as me it doesn't.

Congrats on the 100 consecutive weeks, man!

Haha, indeed...I have personal experience in that regard myself!

Thanks mate, it's been some work, but in the main it's been enjoyable. I'll continue for a while, until no one engages , or I die.

Yeah, I wish I could be more consistent on here but life has been pounding on my cheeks on and off over the last 6 months. Hard to gather myself up from being a puddle to come type on my computer or record videos more than once every week or two.

Here's hoping that I'm still active by the time you get to week 200. You know, if you aren't killed by [insert one of hundreds if not thousands of different types of dangerous animals in Australia.]

:)

It's like that man, life. I sometimes struggle to get my daily post out as well; I have a million things happening in my offline world and it's sometimes easier to simply not post at all - I guess for me I'm afraid that one day may become two, three and four and all of a sudden I'm like, fuck you Hive! So, I keep going. I'll say one thing, it's helped me to think and write fast.

I'll try no to get killed by the myriad of things that want to kill me, this includes China and Indonesia, although that's a little in the future...or is it?

I hope you're well mate, do what you can and look after yourself before you do anything on Hive.

I think you have read my mind this time 🤣. Honestly, I thought of renewing my account and starting afresh and probably could build a better account since I know what to do already in the first seven days which I missed doing when I was new here. 😅..
I'll see what I can write here. Thanks for these prompts..

I'm not sure starting from scratch is the best way to go, it may better to make any changes you feel necessary to your existing account. Your choice though of course. I'm interested to see what you'd do differently.

I know, especially since I already acquired some followers. It's tough to start anew..

Hi @galenkp, congratulations for your success, thanks for these initiatives, here my participation:

Thank you.

I saw it, thank you. ✅

I am always looking forward to this, I have been checking since midnight.

Excited for the weekend engagement huh? 😁

I know you will be, Janey. No doubt. 🥰🥰🥰

Haha. Let's see uncle 😁

Hahaha adorable Janey 🥰🥰. Can't wait to read yours.

Not sure though if it fits this challenge 🤣. Currently writing it. If not, then just consider a random content, lol

Hahahaha I would still love to read it.

Excellent, I look forward to seeing what you put together.

Yeah, cooking something fair already.

🤣🤣😂😂🤣🤣 that's the joy of it.

I finally got to see this, I have been anticipation the weekend prompt and I am sure going to participate in this.

I'll look out for your blog.

This topic is really interesting to participate on

Thanks for the heads up, edited. (As you have now done with your comment.)

An oversight, nothing to worry or it doesn't make me any wiser 😄 comment edited.

It happens I guess.

Nice one sir; I will definitely my post....Thank you!

Nice one, thanks for your support.

This journey has been a long time coming. 100!!! Congratulations sir. Let me get my fingers ready.

It's been a long time coming indeed...100 weeks to be precise.

That's 100 weeks of impacts.

Okay, let me get my pen working....or my hands typing on my phone with the prompt word. Happy 100th blog prompt @Galenkp 👏

The weekend-engagement posts have been amazing honestly. Thank you for your consistency and commitment. Happy celebration of week 100

You're welcome, I appreciate you stopping by to leave a message of support.

Hey mate, congratulations on the milestone. Takes a lot of time and effort to keep at things, and that's a super outcome. I look forward to the birthday cake at 200!

I put a post together, and it has fireworks gifs. I swear, those fireworks are for you, not the New Years reference ;) Or a happy coincidence.

This week's entry:
https://peakd.com/hive-168869/@lordtimoty/we100-open-letter-to-lordtimoty-going-back-to-the-start

Maybe I face planted into a 100 birthday cake today, maybe I didn't. So, you'll have to wait for another one as this one is pretty messed up...Or it isn't in the case of me not face planting. But it probably is.

I like fireworks, you're so thoughtful.

wow! This Is great, and you have given us the opportunity to share our weekend experiences.
Thanks For the opportunity.

The community is all about weekend-related content yes, the #weekend-engagement concept is something altogether different, however it features in my community also, over the weekends. If you're new to the community please take the time to read the posting guide pinned to the top of the community feed.

Thanks. Though not new, but we learn everyday.
I will still go through it again.

Congrats on the milestone. You know it's working when most of the posts at the weekend are in the community.

Thanks mate, it's been some effort but I've enjoyed it too. Some of the previous week's, the early ones when it was a comment-only thing, were incredibly fun! I like the way it is now though, a posting thing.

Thanks for your continued support.

I see that you have put passion to this project, congratulations. It is a very satisfying personal achievement, you have added value to the Hive. Standing Applause. I am sure that what is to come will be better thanks to your work and dedication. Thanks again.

Thanks for your comment and your post. I've asked, on your post, that you properly credit my photo that you used, and please never use any of my photos without my express permission in the future.

as promised, here I share with you my participation for this weekend, success and blessings to you, greetings!
https://peakd.com/hive-168869/@ikigaidesign/we100-party-weekend-engagement-friday-blog-prompts-by-ikigaidesign

I like a person who keeps promises. 😋

Excellent. Thanks for participating.

For me it is an honor to write my pilgrimage on weekends through the various spaces in my country for the world of #weekend-engagement in addition to knowing other cultural loads thanks to this itinerant concept of other countries in each post submitted by other members of the community.

Grateful @galenkp

You're always welcome and I appreciate your posts, and you. You seem like a lovely person, polite and friendly, and I notice.

Darn! Barely missed a fortunate timing! o
Reaching 100!
Congratulations 🥳

Thank you.

Congrats on the milestone! Looking forward to many more weeks of WE!

I know right? 100 is a lot, but it's been a lot of fun also.

I totally agree with you in this aspect @galenkp.

There is a sports community in which I write with a certain regularity and make quite extensive comments explaining my point of view, either by answering comments on my blog or by commenting on other users' blogs.

At first I thought that comments that were too long could be misinterpreted but then I realized that this was not the case.

Besides, I follow a particular rule: I try to answer all the comments of the last seven days, but many times I can't go further back due to time constraints. It is true what you say to analyze a tide of comments such as "Congratulations", "Great", "Excellent", or those who simply put an emoji I don't think it serves to value the content of the post.

Greetings.

It is true what you say to analyze a tide of comments such as "Congratulations", "Great", "Excellent", or those who simply put an emoji I don't think it serves to value the content of the post.

I don't understand your question but I generally ignore single word comments such as you mention as the rubbish they really are.

That was my opinion precisely. It was not a question. I simply wanted to highlight the value of informed comments.

Ah ok, my apology for misunderstanding.

Comments should be relevant, valid and only be made after the post has actually been read. Single word comments are wasted. It's best to comment in such a way that the other person can engage a little and those single word comments don't do that.

I initially came across this community a while ago, I joined because it looked interesting but I haven't posted anything yet because my weekends are kinda monotonous and I didn't think anyone would give two shits about my boring weekends. I think these weekly blog prompts are great because they'll give people like myself and I an opportunity to post here without feeling like it's out of context. Thanks for this brilliant idea, participating will surely be fun😁

No one may care about your weekends as you say, however you're welcome to join in on the #weekend-engagement concept big you like. It's your choice.

Congrats @galenkp for reaching this milestone.
My entry for this week's prompt
https://ecency.com/hive-168869/@buezor/we100-things-i-like-about

Gosh.. will try to get around to one of these today... Some raw stuff I am not sure I want to touch yet though...

If you can then do, if you cannot then do not. 😊

Ha, that's what I thought!

I think I've been self reflective enough about my HIVE journey. I thought I'd write about mother's day lunch instead - I'm too tired to get navel gazey.

Mothers day lunch is worthy of a write up for sure!

Happy 100th!!! Cheers !wine

Joined hive January, and i can say engagement has been helpful
I'm sure will be writing
Expect my entry

It sure is, and will get you a lot further than your other, not so positive, activities that were recently addressed.

I don't really understand??

You were addressed for plagiarism and many of your posts were downvoted. That's a very negative situation and very bad for your account and reputation. That's what I was referring to.

I'm on appeal
So I can't be able to post in your community?

I'm on appeal. So I can't be able to post in your community

I didn't say that. I merely pointed out, in response to your initial comment, that doing the right thing on Hive will get you further than doing the wrong thing. I thought that was clear.

Okay
That was a mistake, which will never happen again
