The weekend

Hey folks, it's Saturday and for any that know me well you'll know that I reckon Saturday is a pretty damned good day. I worked a bit today, it was by choice, but not too much, and managed to catch up with a couple mates for a burger and beer for a late lunch and later...well, I'm going to a BBQ at a friends place for a celebration of their tenth wedding anniversary - I'm looking forward to that as this chap is a bloody master on the BBQ and the food will be amazing.

It'll be a late night, or should I say a really early morning, as we'll kick on for a while and come Sunday...I'll be sleeping in! Ok, maybe not because I'm me and sleeping in isn't my thing, but maybe I'll indulge in a Sunday afternoon nap to recover a little bit.

Along with gatherings like this comes music and most of my friends like the same things with the exception of a few nutbag fringe-dwellers who have different tastes and that's ok, variety is the spice of life right?

With that in mind, I thought I'd share a few things I've been listening to lately and invite you to drop one of your own most recent or current favourites in the comments below. I'll give it a listen, if I don't already know it, and will drop a few decent-sized comment votes here and there; sound like a good plan?

Here's one of mine: Dustin Lynch, and here's another: Luke Combs, and lastly: Erik Grönwall

If you want to get involved with a track, you know what to do in the comments below and if you simply want to talk about your weekend, tell me what y'all are doing, then go a head also.

Been listening lately to a new band called House of Protection and been liking all their songs. Also was listening to Bloodywood which is an Indian band that I just discovered recently.

I don't mind that, House of Protection track. ✅

Rick Magee & The Roadhouse Rockers

Me and Kelly, We grew up with these guys. Listened, danced and sang along with them pretty much every weekend all thru our barroom daze till my 29th year when we moved to FLA.

Movin On

Even then when they would come to Daytona Beach for the Famous springtime motor bike week Rally or the Biketoberfest October Rally. We would go and see them. Drove their pickup trucks and Harleys into the back of the Landstar trailer and hauled them home to Pennsyl-Tucky one year.

Meet the Band

Miss them alot. They are still playing gigs. Long time rockin' early eighties thru today. 40+ years of great music and good times...

Rock n Roll Band

So much better than the manufactured bullshit available now and good to hear the old fella's are still getting out and about. I know music is a personal thing and so it should be, but there's so much rubbish around these days huh?

I am no fan of the new techno computer generated a.i. crap.

Or that dance party rave crap that sounds like a repetitive loop of torture tempo to drive one mad. 🤪

Have You and Yours ever had any musical friends or relatives.?? Do either of you play instruments or sing.?

We already know you can not dance. Or so you say 🤣😂🤣😂😳😳

I play the piano, (bass guitar and trumpet back in the day too.) My grandfather was very talented, was in marching bands, and his brother (my great uncle) was quite famous back in the twenties, had records cut and all. A musical family really.

And yeah, that rubbish you mention is the shit I'm talking about, can't stand it.

I thought I remembered you posting about some of that. But was not sure if it was fiction or non.

No talent in my family. I had a couple uncles who dabbled in guitar and even gave me lessons at about 12-13 yrs of age. I was a pussy and did not like it cuz the strings hurt my little wussy fingers.

Haha, delicate fingers huh? I reckon you work hard enough to have pretty tough hands though.

Battle scarred and calloused.

I was just up in a few trees doing surgery from storm damages with a chainsaw and a pole saw this afternoon. Part Monkey-Part Man.

Back on the road in the AM.

I didn't really know any of the three... I listened to them and the one I liked the most was the third one, the piano and the tone of the voice are great.

These last days I've been repeating this mix a lot, it's very well known.

Today housework, some weekly shopping, a bit of work, but mostly just being at home. Maybe do some Christmas crafts that my mother likes. Of course lots of mate! If you haven't tried it yet, you're missing out on a lot!

I heard a Michael Bolton track once...but not all the way through; it's not my thing.

It sounds like you have a relaxing weekend ahead, enjoy.

I know, don't worry, I love it haha well at least these days. Then I don't know.

Yes, I need a bit of relaxation. Thank you!

Those are some good tunes! It's always a plus when you get to have BBQ! I've had the opportunity to see Luke Combs in concert twice. He puts on a really good show and continues to release amazing songs. He's one of my favorites!

Yep, he's probably top three on my list for sure, a great performer.

Never heard any of the groups mentioned, so listened and really enjoyed all three being different styles and presentation.

Knowing House Of The Rising Sun this is an awesome version of an epic number.

Have a wonderful weekend, hope the BBQ (Braai) went off well with friends and good vibes.

The BBQ went really well, a great celebration all round. I hope things are going well with you and you're getting back to normal after your recent situation.

Updated post, still not here as often and will be busy sorting things out. Coping one day at a time, then we too will have a braai simply for the fun of it.

Good to hear the BBQ was a great time out!

That sounds like a solid Saturday. I hope it went really well. A BBQ is what I need right now 😂

I'm spending the weekend in the hospital, duty calls, so I'm reading a bit about the community to catch up

Duty is importan and one's sense of duty also meaning that a person needs to take care of business when required. I hope you also get a little time off.

A BBQ on the weekend? That's the best combo. Happy 10th wedding anniversary to your friend ✨

The weekend seems like the perfect time to have aom fun right?

Yep, especially that's the time that some of our friends are available.

It looks like you'll make the most of your weekend. Life is short and you should enjoy it as much as possible.

I'll be meeting up with friends this weekend, we'll probably visit some mountain villages. It'll be exciting in this winter season. Also, there's an amateur league match on Sunday, I might watch it.

A visit with your friends and some soccer (football) seems like a good way to spend your weekend.

You are having a good weekend enjoyment.

Yeah.
