A minute or more

It's been a minute since I felt your touch, inhaled or drank of you, or revelled in the rapture in which your presence leaves me. It's been a minute since you brought forth the colours of my spirit and cradled me within your embrace - since your touch settled upon me like a gentle lovers sensuous touch - our moments a symphony of beauty and solace. You're a constant as I journey, you're my compass and destination both, my home, a companion when I'm still; you whisper to me of love, passion and peace in the quiet moments we create together. You were mine once, many times. You are mine once more, and will be again. My need for you will never be sated and nor do I wish it to be.

Over the last few months I've been working through a painful and reasonably debilitating medical situation that has interrupted my life rather profoundly from a physical and emotional perspective. I'll admit it's knocked me down a time or two, but I throat punched it back also, showed it who's the boss, and and the situation is moving forward rather nicely. With this in mind I felt it was time to take a hike.

I've been walking a lot however avoided the more strenuous hikes I love the most...until Saturday. I woke up early and decided to issue another throat punch to the situation by heading over the road from my house and hiking up and down the mountain conservation reserve found there and which you can see pictured.

For the initial stages I was chatting on the phone which highlighted the fact my fitness-level has declined - I began to breathe a little heavier on the way up - however soon ended that call and simply hiked...for three hours.

I allowed the moment to settle upon me; I was hiking and in a place within nature that brings me deep satisfaction. I feel...uncaged in these places. Alone but not lonely. I feel...wealthy.

My hike on Saturday was a much needed moment, a powerful emotional triumph, and initial victory that will lead to more of the same.

It's been a minute or more since I've been able to accomplish such hikes and it's incredibly motivating to have ticked off three hours of hiking. This, aside from the obvious benefit I gain from being in natural places, made Saturday remarkable; but not as remarkable as my next hike, or the next after that and so on.

I want to leave you with a quote someone once sent me...It's not about nature, but it could be. I like it very much, hence its inclusion in my post today.

"The minute I heard my first love story, I started looking for you, not knowing how blind that was. Lovers don't finally meet somewhere. They're in each other all along."

Keep on throat punching dude. Glad you got this big giant one in. I have been hiking a fair bit myself this week (not after a medical situation throat punching) and it's amazed me how out of the way I have gotten from it. Must be all that COVID lockdown nonsense.

There's something deeply satisfying about putting one foot in front of the other and moving through natural places right? I was hiking so much mid-late last year and for it to fall off a cliff (not literally) so suddenly took its toll. But now...I'm back! It's amazing what a well placed throat punch can achieve. 😉

Keep hiking mate, you'll thank yourself for it. Well, maybe not thank per se, but you know what I mean.

It truly is. The sights and the feeling of being out and free are just sublime. Even the weather makes you feel great. Although it was sunny we got caught in a rainy squall for ten minutes or so yesterday and it just made us buzz!

Your throat punching is second to none it seems! :0)

Hiking in the rain is legit...If it's not too cold. 🤪

Yes, we need to punch back those bad thoughts and also the worries. We may sometimes be troubled but it's we who can control it. Keep fighting and keep going by the way I'm glad to know you're doing fine.

I do love hiking too but nowadays it's a bit hard after the situation sinking. Maybe next week or the next I'll go back to hiking. It's fun to kill time and at the same time sip the feeling of nature's beauty.

I try to go every day, have for a long time, but with the small issue I had I've had to kerb it. I'm glad to be back to it though.

This is one thing I would love to do one day; hiking and glad you got it over with. Nature always have its way of refreshing us if we are willing to explore. One step at a time it is...

So sorry about your health sir. I know how tough and strong you are, so I know you will always come out on top. Keep staying strong.

Hey mate, my health is all good, I'm tough. Nature, helps soothe the soul and talks to the spirit of a person I believe...That's why I spend so much time out and about.

That's encouraging and nature is a natural healer. Glad you are taking comfort in it and getting better. I love your toughness 😍

Hey mate, my health is all good, I'm tough. Nature, helps soothe the soul and talks to the spirit of a person I believe...That's why I spend so much time out and about.

I wish you more strength and more presence of nature all around.

Glad to hear your getting back to it! That wind will come back quickly (for you, I've got a long way to go). A long walk in the woods or fields is like magic for the soul and the body.

Hey mate, yep I'm on the mend and things are moving in the right direction. It was good to get into something a little more strenuous and in the days since I've been some more...My breath will come back for sure, I feel better each day.

A healthy activity like walking tends to boost healing. It's a mighty step, I wish you a complete recovery soon enough.

I tend to prefer a good hour on a treadmill instead of nature thanks to my horrid environment.

Hmm yes, I understand that sometimes a person is in an environment not conducive to safety or beauty and in that case a treadmill works nicely.

Oh yeah, keep on throat punching the Universe. The Universe has thrown up a ton of road blocks the past three years. I'm over it! I might not throat punch as you do, but I shall kick it in its gnards...

I agree mate, it's been a torrid few years, for me since late 2018. But, my feet hit the ground each morning and that's a good thing.

One must gnard-kick mustn't one.

Yeah, it's been a lot. I feel like I've had so many red lights and things that have f'ing pissed me off the past few years. Maybe it's a test...I have no idea, but hugging on to the dream that maybe this all works out? Hey, maybe there's a book in there??

I know how you feel and feel it too, I think many do.

Here's the thing though...I just wrote a post for later about the perfect enough paradigm. Nothing is ever going to be perfect, certainly not life itself, so it's best to find enjoyment and value in the perfect enough moments and things in our lives knowing that there's room for improvement. That way we enjoy our lives now with a forward-focus, meaning hope and momentum to carry us forward towards something better, more valuable or enjoyable. It's a mindset but one that leaves me happier [now] and with less chance for regret to creep in later.

There's a book for sure mate, we are all a tale waiting to be told.

So happy to see you fighting back.
Looked like a lovely hike. Nature is our true medicine and I wish you a full recovery

Nature truly is good for the soul.

I have to admit, but that is some of the best news I have heard all day! To be denied something that means so much to you is nearly Criminal! Even though you can tell the difference between where you are and where you are now your total body fitness will bring you back to where you once were. It's amazing how much satisfaction we can get from a hike into the Wilds of Mother Nature, or somewhere else equally has peaceful. Our weather has been kind of weird so it has kept me mostly sidelined in the last few weeks oh, but hopefully I'll get back out there soon.

Seems nothing at you down for too long, you get right back up in fight mode. I'm really happy that you are moving forward doing the needful!

The quote? Love, love, love... both. Completely.

Weather is one of things that can inhibit a person's activities and sense of well-being, I hope it improves so you can get back to it.

Thanks for taking a read and for the kind words about the quotes. The first is my own which, in my opinion, palesninto insignificance when compared to Rumi's. But...I tried.

Have a nice day.

Hello friend @galenkp, I am very glad that you have made the decision to go for a walk and enjoy nature, there is no better medicine than being in places like these, where we can just feel the air spraying our body, that's wonderful. I hope you don't stop doing it, it will help you a lot. Greetings.

Hi there, I'm glad to be out and about hiking again and think it'll be sustainable moving forward.

That's very good friend @galenkp. Regards. Be well.

I feel for you bro. Last year I suffered from slipped disc and the pain was terrible. Nothing like being one with nature to perk you up. I wish that you will have a fast recovery. Loved your fighting spirit.

I'll be fine, it takes more than a few medical issues to keep the old G-dog down. ✅

Keep up the fighting spirit.

I fight. A fighting spirit, grit and determination, is ingrained.

Exercise is very important am sure you will get out if it, you have done the right thing hiking and even walking will go along way friend @galenkp wish you best of luck

Thanks for the luck, it may come in handy if I decide to stop making my own.

That's good to hear. Medical conditions are tough, but I'm glad its not bringing you down.

The minute I heard my first love story, I started looking for you, not knowing how blind that was. Lovers don't finally meet somewhere. They're in each other all along.

— This tho.. Damn. I love it.

I'm resilient and seem to have the knack of being hard to kill... Fortunately. 😉

And yep, that's a legit quote huh?

Well you keep on being that! Not gonna go down without a fight!

Also yess. That's a really nice quote. Imma use it to whoo someone :')

Am highly happy that you are getting better and stronger

Indeed, I am on the mend.

I'm glad you are doing better! It's always hard to have to pause a favorite activity...

Indeed, that's true.

I first saw her 52 years ago, and she still takes my breath away!

I'm glad you contracted a Similar contagion, ROFLOL!

💗🤠💙👍

Well, this one is all about nature, the other situation isn't for the blockchain. 😉

ROFLOL, I was pulling for you....

I went to the range today to try a new rifle my Son just bought at the big gun show! It worked well before I slicked it up a little, but now it's a sweet toy! I taught him well, LOL....

💗🤠💙👍🥳

It's good when a plan comes together.

The boy's ahead of dad here... I haven't found one of these, yet.

💗🤠💙👍🥳💸💸🤕

It's nice to shoot these old guns sometimes right?

Some things are timeless, and the 'ought six' is one of them! I have a lot of old Mauser type actions, but none, including the original K-98; compares favorably. The 06 was the first boat tailed round, that was originally tapered in the rear; to aid mass production. Before we knew what BC was, but it was a game changer!

I still need to find a good one, LOL!
