I don’t think I could be more likeable. Honestly! I pride myself on my affability and my sunny disposition. As the old saying goes ‘first impressions last’ and I’m always careful to make a good impression.
While I don’t meet many people these days having retired to the country to practice reclusivity, those I do meet, the odd farmer, delivery man and a few dog walkers, I’m certain find me personable and witty.
Take my nearest neighbour for example, once a grumpy old git, who for three years would drag his dog into the house as I passed lest his pooch might join me and my four ladies on our daily constitutional. If said hound, one Toby by name, managed to escape unseen, this grumpy bugger would hop in his car, drive right up behind us and scream at me to stop while he bundled Toby into his vehicle. But reader, I tamed him. Once he actually met me, and that’s another story, even he succumbed to my charm and now greets me cheerily and kicks the dog out the door to join my perambulation.
Of course, I have considerable experience in the art of meeting and greeting. Wendy, my alter ego, was a greeter in our Amsterdam vacation rental company for several years, and let me tell you that there was hardly a review posted that didn’t mention her charm and personality.
So, while in truth I am a reclusive, ill-humoured misanthrope, I am also a consummate dissembler. It has been remarked to me more than once that I would have made a good actress. Would have? Sure haven’t I spent all my life playing some part.

Posted in response to @galenkp's Weekend Experiences prompt asking ' you met a new person today do you think they would like your personality? Explain why or why not and what things about your personality you'd change to make yourself more likeable if you could.
The images are my own but do not necessarily reflect my opinions.
Hahaaa...tame 'em like you own 'em. I like it!
Hahaha, that's my mantra!
Love it lol!!
It's a special skill to be able to turn the charm on when you need to, and a straight up gift to only do it when you want to! Moving to the country to practice being a recluse sounds like the dream to me, I've been telling myself it is the year I'll do exactly that for... well, too many years now 😂
You're far too young to be reclusive m'dear. That is reserved for the geriatric and infirm!:)
I don't believe the misanthrope part at all, but it's a good cover to keep people at arm's length :)
Haven't we all?
As I was writing that line I was thinking just that. We spend our lives playing parts.I have no idea whether I'm that bubbly bouncy nutter people see or the mournful mound of melancholy I am when nobody's looking:)
Oh I'd love to meet you out and about, we could have an alter ego face off lol xxx
Hahaha, I've two alter egos, Wendy and Alice. Can you match that?

Many thanks and keep up the good work!
I honestly don't care much at first impressions since I don't care for others, I don't mind reclusivity like you 😂
I honestly admire you. No one in their right mind would call me personable, nor am I known for a sunny disposition. I did try, but never worked for me😀.
Hahaha, I'm sure you're lovely...in your own way:)
I must confess to writing with my tongue firmly in my cheek. Truth is I find most people ridiculous and can usually find some reason to laugh at them:)
All Toby wanted was to hang out with the laydeezz...poor bastard.
Thanks for joining in, always get a laugh out of your posts, this time it was the practice reclusivity comment.
Well, since I tamed his owner, he walks with us every other day...the dog, not the owner. Here he is today with 3 of his lady friends.
I'm delighted my little post at least gave you one giggle. I certainly enjoyed writing it.
Look at Toby with his gals...good on him.
Tamed his owner. Lolled at that.
You're such an appreciative audience. You're a delight to entertain:)
I am a but a simple man, easily entertained.
What a scene. Love the road, though it looks more like a path.
Lucky dogs.
Sure isn't that the widest piece of roadway we have for miles:) It's what's called a 'Bóithrín' around these parts, (pronounced Boreen), literally a path for moving cows from one field to the other.
(bó) meaning cow (ín) meaning small. Your first lesson in Gaelic, so don't go saying I didn't give you anything for Christmas!
