When my phone rang in the early hours of the morning a few days ago, and the screen showed an unknown number, my first instinct was to turn it off, who calls at 3 a.m.? But I answer and I couldn't believe it was @Galenkp himself saying, Hey you! you've won 1000 dollars to spend next weekend. Then he hung up without me even being able to answer.
I woke up and tried to wake up my husband, who looked at me with a "wtf is wrong with you" face and turned over. After making a cup of coffee, I got to look for an offer to a weekend in paradise.
Saturday morning, Los Roques here we come!

In the taxi to the airport, which cost us $35, the husband looks at me with disbelief. But when we board the little plane that in half an hour would take us to the archipelago of Los Roques, he smiled.
Weekend plan Los RoquesThe plan I got, after a lot of searching to stay within budget, is all-inclusive. It cost $828 plus $10 (5/person) for the entrance fee to the national park.
We don't have to worry about food. We even have included lunch and drinks at the beach. All we have to do is relax, enjoy the white sandy beaches and turquoise waters, snorkel, and disconnect for a couple of days.
Photo by lucero1605 - PixabaySaturday night, after dinner at the posada. We ventured to the beach of El Gran Roque, the larger island, to have a couple of mojitos at one of the beachfront bars. The bill was $25.
On Sunday afternoon, back at the airport, we take the taxi back home, again for $35.
Back home, our son has just returned from a weekend with his friends. I still have $67 in my wallet, so we are going out for dinner.
This was our quick getaway to Los Roques, thanks to Galen and his $1000 weekend posting contest!

I wouldn't be mad at all if someone call me at 3 am to give me $1000, I'd rush to book my trip to Los Roques, lol.
Thanks for another fun challenge, this one also had a great touch with the 350-word restriction.
I wanted to restrict the word count to force people to be concise and to the point rather than waffling on. It was/is just a little contest to give me a reason to spread some Hive around so I though 350 words would be ample.
I liked the idea of putting restrictions so that people don't get to ramble on. You are right, in 350 words one can write a lot of things.

Los Roques is without exaggeration the most beautiful beach I have ever seen in my life and I have seen some beautiful ones. Jaja and of course, you'll get a postcard.
But you'd better put it on your life wishes list to come and visit us, and we will take you there 😄
Oh my list already, I did see some amazing beaches in Africa, but no tourists hehe and of course no facilities either as they were slap bang next to the jungle!
There are not many facilities on the beaches of Los Roques either, except for the main island. Many of the beaches of the archipelago are little visited.
But the beaches next to the jungle seem amazing too.
