My Birth Month: My Birthday Celebration

Hey Hivers! A delightful day to everyone. Hope everyone is doing fine today and is feeling well as we go on for today!

August is a month for reflection and celebration.

August is a special month for me. It holds a special place in my heart for it is my birth month. It is a time filled with joy and cherished moments together with my family. It is the month that I am surrounded with love and care throughout.

August is more than just a birth month to me. It is the time where I look back to the past year, appreciate my growth, and try to set new aspirations. This nature aligns perfectly with my profession as a teacher, where I can continue to learn and have my self-improvement. It is the key to keep on living and pursuing every dream in life.

As a public-school teacher, I dedicate almost all my time nurturing and molding young minds. My birthday indicates that I still have more years to fulfill this kind of responsibility that will create a great memory for the young minds where they can reflect whenever they have already reached their dreams.

Now we will talk about how we planned and celebrated my birthday.

I always told my wife to celebrate my birthday in a simple way. But it is one of Filipino culture that when you aged in the Zero Era, I mean, when you aged 10, 20, 30, 40…, it is a culture to have a blast. Like have a “lechon”, a whole roasted pig and a special delicacy of the Philippines whenever you have a big celebration. My wife planned to have a special birthday celebration since I will be in my 30 on my birthday, but I keep on refusing her offer since I do really want a simple celebration together with our families. She keeps on brainstorming ideas about what to do on my birthday. I just want to go to the beach and relax and chill, or I just want to celebrate it eating together at a restaurant so that there will be no preparation made, or just go to a nearby park. See how simple it is. (Laughing out loud)

I just want it to be a series of simple yet blissful celebration. What could go wrong, right? I am not fond of having big parties.

We still have one big problem to encounter. My birthday is on August 05, that will be on Monday. Just like my mother-in-law’s birthday celebration, it is very hard to coordinate with my sibling’s schedule. My birthday will fall on Monday, so we decided to celebrate it a day earlier to let my siblings commit on attending my simple birthday celebration. Crossing my fingers, hope they will be able to make it and attend it. I already sent my invitation last week, despite their busy schedules, for them to make an adjustment to their schedule to be able to attend.

My wife and I settle on the restaurant thing. We decided to celebrate it with one the famous seafood restaurant here in Bogo City, Cebu. “DAMPA sa Bogo – Seafood, Grill and Restobar” is the name of the restaurant.

Sunday came and it was the time for the early celebration, luckily all my siblings including their families attended the simple celebration. My heart was pounding and buzzing with excitement. I did it and fulfill another year to live. I realize as we grow older, our family is the only people we can rely onto. I mean, my wife is the most reliable one because I do have my own family, thou, but your siblings and family can be reliable too. Depending about what you get into.

DAMPA offers lots of food on their menu. From Seafood Platter, Boodle Overload, Boodle Family, Seafood Cajun, Pizzas, to Nachos. They also serve beverages: from sweet to alcoholic one. And they also serve whole “lechon” or you can order a chopped one, depending on how many grams do you want to eat.

We order the BOODLE OVERLOAD - Cajun Seafood, Grilled Tilapia or Bangus, Chicken Inasal, Pork BBQs, Liempo, Calamares, Buttered Garlic Shrimp, Lumpiang Shanghai, Chorizo, Steamed Mussels, Chicharon, Kimchi, Soup (you can pick what soup do you want from chicken, pork and clam soup) and 1 Liter Iced Tea (for 52.02 $ or 2999 Pesos only), CALAMARES (for 4.32 $ or 249 Pesos), BULALO (Filipino Beef Marrow Stew) for 9.52 $ or 549 Pesos, CAJUN PLATTER (for 10.39 $ or 599 Pesos), BAM-I (for 6.92 $ or 399 Pesos), and HALO-HALO (for 1.72 $ or 99 Pesos). Oh! Don’t forget about the soft drinks and iced tea.

It was great, it was truly great. Seeing your whole family in one place, except for my mother who passed away last year on my birth month, weeks after my birthday. My heart is filled with love and contentment – the simplicity, joy, and the warmth greetings from my family. In the end, it was not the grand gestures or the expensive gifts that matters, what truly matter the most is the presence, the laughter we shared, and the heartfelt story of our family. This simple togetherness was a statement of love and appreciation for one another. It was a perfect birthday thou, one that would be remembered even for how many years.
